This would probably be a good time for overdramatic...they've got to be a pretty big dog to make the playoffs at this point, no?

Yup, and while I enjoy football, after what the Giants did, I just can't be all "the sky is falling" if the Niners miss out this year.

Hawks game was the ultimate in FIRE BEVELL to me. All his damn FPS bull**** wouldn't work, but just handing the ball to BEAST MODE and letting him run over people did. Please fire this *******, get a coach (and WRs) who can call a downfield passing game, mostly RUN THE DANG BALL and never throw another bubble again in your life.

Also if the Serpent Society shows up in a Captain America movie, I know who is playing Cottonmouth:

i was talking to a friend yesterday about beast mode and i honestly cannot come up with a player that other teams try to avoid tackling more. seems like every time i watch a seahawks 3rd and 4th quarter there's a corner or safety not trying to make a play.

According to Football Outsiders, the 49ers had a 14% chance of making the playoffs, going into yesterday.

To some extent this is an illusion created by the fact that Lynch is really slippery. He's more like the world's strongest scatback than a power runner. He avoids tackles in these amazingly unique ways that make people look awful.

I totally agree with the idea that the Hawks shouldn't bring him back at the price he'll likely command, but man will I miss watching him run.

Palmer done with an ACL. Sad for the Cards, but did anybody expect him to last the season? Not super mobile QB playing in a division full of beastly pass rushers? (and of course he goes down to a non-contact injury). Football is so dumb.

#31 of the Giants definitely cut his own balls off on one of Lynch's runs yesterday though. He absolutely decided to let up and let Lynch in instead of challenging him just short of the end zone.

Palmer said he cried like a baby last night. Hadn't cried since Chris Henry passed away.
****ty. Certainly not the way that I wanted the Cards' season to turn south.

scatback? he's not fast and he's built like a human battering ram. he's probably the most balanced power back in the league. his ability to maintain his balance and run through tackles is probably unmatched in the league.

here's a link to his 16 yarder from yesterday. watch #31 at the end.

yep this. it seems to happen all the time with marshawn. maybe i just look for it, but last night's game had a pretty blatant case of fear of beast mode.

Lynch has $5MM guaranteed next year and it would only save $1.5MM in cap space if he's cut. I can't see him getting cut just to save the $2MM roster bonus. If he was showing signs of slowing down, then sure, but he looks as good as ever.

Didnt the Cards already win without Palmer this season?

They did win a game with Stanton. I don't expect it to turn them into an awful team overnight or anything, but it almost certainly hurts them.

Stanton started and won week 2 vs the Giants. Then started and won week 3 vs the 49ers. They had a week 4 bye. He started week 5 vs the Broncos, but got injured in the 3rd quarter.

Palmer was back week 6.

Bleh, I'm wrong. It is only guaranteed if he makes the team, so it is a potential $7MM savings if he is cut.

That being said, his cap number is only $500k higher than this year. With no sign of slowdown, with the big regression in the passing game this year, and with the cap increases coming over the next two years, I don't think he gets cut in the offseason.

I do think that the space created by dumping Harvin makes it a lot more plausible that Lynch is still with the Hawks next year.

And while Stanton has won some games, he's also at <55% completions on the year. He's not good.

For sure. There is $7MM in dead money for Harvin, but his cap hit if he had remained was something like $12MM.

He was pretty bad against the Giants on paper (I didn't actually see the game). Cards were +4 in turnovers that game which seems to have been the main deciding factor. Does look like he was legitimately decent against the Niners.

But yeah overall the hope if you're Arizona is just that he plays okay and that everyone else plays out of their minds. It's better than having to hand the keys to Brandon Weeden, but it's a blow.

Rams are so frustrating. Hangover today from that game.

Here's the Rams 2014 season:

Going into the season we had a mediocre OL, a mediocre QB, below average WRs, and average RB.

Now take all of that and injure the the best player of each of those corps, toss in a new coordinator for the 5th straight year, and you get the Rams
