I think it had more to do with Reid trying to mix it up / keep GB off balance / be creative in a big game (something Reid tends to do, well, in the regular season anyway) / etc. than some secret knowledge that Vick > Kolb, but I guess you could theoretically be right. It's not that far fetched if you believe that Vick really is better (which I don't).

I hope that ugly ass run-on sentence was understandable.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

I must say I'm quite surprised that most of the Philly fans who dislike this move are so quick to defend Reid's honor here. As if there is literally no chance he would just come to the conclusion that Vick is better for the team for week 3 and beyond (which I disagree with as many of you also do).

All this talk of I oline, injury, and owner conspiracy while completely writing off the most likely reasoning (lol Andy!) is puzzling.

Pretty unlikely their opinion of Kolb has gone so far south that they regret trading McNabb. They probably feel better about the QB situation now than when they traded McNabb.

I just hope this isn't Andy's ego thinking he and Marty "fixed" Vick.

I mean, he's definitely much more like what they're used to than Kolb. Stronger arm than Donny, even less accurate, better scrambler now than Donny in his prime. McNabb does manage to generally know what the **** he's looking at when he glances at an NFL defense, though. Sometimes what's comfortable makes you feel better than what's good. Cue string of tear-stained women banging on the door.

The counter to my theory is that Vick also came in for McNabb at times last year, although it seemed like his role prob was going to be a bit larger this year. How many snaps to Vick have vs Kolb before he got hurt?

I like Donovan a lot, however he is also a 33 year old slightly above average (if that) QB with one year left on his contract. Getting an early second round pick for him is great value. I think they should be starting Kolb over Vick right now, but Vick has played great and in a 16 game season you don't always have the time to lets guys figure **** out so I understand why Reid wants to ride the hot hand.

Highlights from Andy Reid's morning press conference:

-- He said he can't predict if Kevin Kolb would remain on the team past the trade deadline, but emphasized again that Kolb has "a bright future."

-- He said no one else came to him about the decision - not coaches or players or upper management.

-- He said Vick is the starter for the rest of the year based on his great play, which no one could anticipate would be at such a high level.

-- He conceded that Kolb would still have the job if he did not get hurt.

Either way though, I don't think the Skins have played well enough at all, and this conference is def up for grabs bc I don't think any of these teams are going to run away with it, simply bc none of them are good enough to. Should be an interesting year.

Oh wow. Now I almost think he's going to be traded. With all the awful QBs in the NFL, hmm. Think anybody gives them a 1st round pick? What would the Eagles accept for him? Two 2's? A 2 and a 3 plus a few players?

trading kolb would make sense to me - it's at least a clear message that they don't believe he's the guy

Is it really that unlikely that a 30 year old QB who depends on his legs and has had 3 years away from the game would be currently better than a 33 year old QB who also depends on his legs, and was moderately better throughout his career but has had multiple significant injuries to overcome.

McNabb doesn't rely on his legs.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of any of this bolded should 100% be agreed on as an epically bad move.

Would be shocked if it happened, but I said the same thing about Kolb being benched so soon when I brought the hypothetical up after week 1.

Or instead of it being 100% agreed on, we could actually wait and see what they get back for him before judging it. It's not likely to be a good trade for the Eagles but that doesn't mean it definitely wont be.
