Mets might take a shot at Chad Bradford again. The Mets have still not made the K-Rod deal official, although the media has reported the Mets have signed him to a three year 37 million deal.

I would like to see the Mets talk to John Garland. I think he would do nicely behind Johan, Pelfrey and Maine (???).

The Mets still need help in the seventh and eight inning. Perhaps without Willie taxing the bullpen, some of those guys will have gas left in the tank. IMHO Willie's misuse of the bullpen hurt us at the end of the season.

The Mets need to move Heilman and Castillo to Colorado for Hudson Street. The Mets should then sign Mark Grudzielanek to play second base.

Excellent deal.

Mike Francesa and Sweeny Murti were talking about him earlier. They thought the same thing. Not specifically for the Mets, but that he would be a solid #4 or 5 guy for any team, and probably come at a good price. I don't know enough about Garland to comment.

I'm sure we'll see more moves in the bullpen. I'm in the camp that is still willing to put Heilman out there though. Not as the 8th inning guy though. I want someone new out there for that.

I agree ditching Castillo needs to happen; I'm not so certain it will though.

I never said I hated K-Rod. I said that he was overrated and was concerned that we'd have to dish out a long term deal for 15M/year to get him.

All abroad the K-Rod train!

the angels said no
the redsox dont need him
the skankees dont need him
the cubs just traded for a closer
the dodgers dont need him
the philthies dont need him

seriously, who will we even be competing with?

K-rod will get 42 million for 3 years guaranteed with a 4th year option based on appearances or something

there is competition from fuentes and wood and even hoffman which will keep prices down if anything (the supply > the demand)

so please tell me, who are the mets even competing with?
damn, i was actually 5 mil too high

I'm not big on K-Rod. I'd rather have Fuentes for cheaper and then sign Hoffman or someone else to set him up. I think K-Rod is an arm injury waiting to happen.

From what I read the Angels will get the Mets first round(LDO) and if the Mets sign, say Derek Lowe who is also a type A, the Dodgers will receive the Mets second round pick.

I blame my lack of reading comprehension on finals and exhaustion. I went back to the article and it clearly says that, lol. Ugh...I hate this week.

I listened to Adam Rubin on SNY reporting from the winter meetings.
He has reported that Mets will keep Smith and Feliciano, but will trade Showenweiss Heilman and/or Sanchez.

He reported that the Mets plan on keeping their payroll at 140m (2008 they had 138m in payroll)

Lets hope Omar can make some magic. I would like John Garland to bolster the rotation. The team will give Jon Niece a chance to fail.

We can only hope he will somehow dump Castillo and pick up Orlando Hudson.

Almost no one hated K-Rod. Most sane intelligent people on this board just didn't want to give him 5 years $75m which he and his agent were initially asking for. This was a very good signing by the Mets.

I'd prefer to keep Feliciano over Show but I do see Show's $3.6m salary this year being a major ro******* in any attempt to trade him.

Well if he bats leadoff at least it guarantees 1 at bat a game where he can't GIDP. The OBP stat thrown out there in that article is misleading too. Reyes did not have great OBP numbers his first couple of injury plagued years but he is .354, .354, .358 the last three years. Which is pretty much the same as what Castillo has done the last three years.
