I feel you, but it's as simple as the old there are thousands and thousands of games played, and some extreme bell curve stuff is bound to happen. Add the shook factor in a little on this one, no doublt. UK had a game against G-town in the Ewing years in the F4 famously. Zero points for 10+ minutes to open the second half, pretty sure it was.

Hurley revenge is kind of like Saban revenge. Scary ... even for Pitino who has seen it all. Seeing it all is not like seeing Saban. Pitino and his team got spooked.

Pitino the "Rout King" at the peak of his career, has always had the close game bugaboo. He had some kind of horrible OT record either at UK or pre-UK/plus UK. Something like 1-12, gonna have to look it up just going by memory, with the one win being when they got way behind in OT to the #1 team in the country, pretty sure 9 points behind, such that it was no longer a close game, so he got comfortable, and they won the damn thing.

The other night I was looking over the record of his very first NCAA tournament team, Boston U in 1983. As like a harbinger, that team kept losing by one or two points, 6 times, with no close wins until the very end of the year. Then they beat Holy Cross twice by 1 point in the last week to make the tourney. But it was fascinating to watch. He was always anxious about winning when it wasn't a rout. True story.

Chad Baker-Mazara has left USC. Article isn't clear on whether he got kicked off or left voluntarily, but the former seems more likely than the latter. I'm not surprised. He wasn't exactly a model of maturity at Auburn either.

I actually hit it, a convoluted parlay. I took them to beat Vandy outright, then today when I saw it moved up to 6, I"m thinking they won't beat this Gator juggernaut, so I bought it up to 7.5. It landed perfect with that pretty crazy finish. The whole time I thought it was going to land on 8 and beat me. But Florida missed just enough free throws down the stretch.

Didn't even watch the game today. The radio broadcast was enough. At least this way, I avoided the xenophobic/transphobic political ads of which GOP senate candidate can suck Trump's dick harder. Not the worst UK team I have ever watched, but easily the most frustrating. I remember when college basketball used to be fun. Are we sure we didn't all die during COVID, and this is the bad place?

I don't know, man. Florida is the standard of the league right now, and along with a few other teams the standard of the country. During this winning streak their average margin of victory is 25 points against everyone but UK, and only 8 against the Cats. UK didn't go away in either game like everyone else did.

I guess they are a lock for the tourney, but if they lose in the first round of the SEC that makes them 19-13 on a 3 game losing streak, and losers of 6 of their last 8. They damn well better have some quality wins. They do. About 6 But some of those are dropping in value.

Wow ... I'm hot. Bought Sparty to +10.5 two units, perfect again, and 1/2 unit outright at +420. Semi-sweet anyway. Ithought they might pull the upset.

UK is a lock for the tourney. But what makes this season so frustrating is that pretty much every game against a legit opponent, they have had something like a 0-15 run in the first half, and then have to play catch-up. Sometimes they made a comeback, but it's never good to spot the opponent 15 points in the first half.

I'm pretty sure you would have made massive bank this season if you bet UK to be outscored first half against any legit opponent, and then livebet UK against the spread at halftime.

This Bobby Hurley swan song score today, 91-42, reminded me of a UK/Tennessee score back in the 1993 SEC Tournament. Mostly because I thought that score was 91-40, so I looked it up. It was even worse: 101-40. I was surprised to see that SEC Tourney was in Rupp Arena, a rarity. But, wow, what a difference between Bobby and Danny as coaches.

I was fuzzy on it because it was a legendary poker trip for us. Splash Casino riverboat had just opened, I think the first of the riverboats in the region. So we were on the road during that tournament ... and darned if a massive March blizzard didn't hit. We got thrown out of Splash, one of our crew riding an incompetent dealer, so, instead of heading back to Lexington, we headed down to Biloxi. We played for a several days, weird thing there was a player down there that looked so much like me they thought I was him. Next thing you know there was snow flurries on the beach down there, but on the way home was the blizzard. 17 inches of snow in Birmingham, Alabama ... where they don't even have a snow shovel. City paralyzed.

We holed up in a hotel on the interstate for a while, sleeping 3 in a bed. Made it home by driving west a bit, where there had been only flurries in the freaky storm. Road was clear instead of quagmired. We had watched dozens of cars slide off the highway over in the Birmingham corridor. Our driver was a champ. I guess the most memorable poker trip of my career, which included thousands of trips.

But 101-40 is one helluva freak score for two such major programs. Tennessee even had a future NBA All-Star in Alan Houston. Not sure if he played, might have been injured. My god, just looked that up. He went 1-15 from the field and scored 3 points, and that was his swan song at Tennessee.

One of the best shooting seasons of all-time from Milan Momcilovic.

I looked it up a while ago and the best seasons were Jon Diebler of Ohio State, Damon Stoudamire of Arizona, and Justin Jaworski of Lafayette College.

I don't know the analytics on it but think Wisconsin should have fouled and put Michigan in the 1 and 1. Especially if they have a shitty ft shooter.

Both Michigan AND Dayton very lucky they didnt get technical fouls called with players running off the bench to celebrate with time still left on the clock. Like if Wisconsin had inbounded the ball right after the made shot, they would have had to have called it.

Too bad about Ole Miss. With 4 conference wins all year they were 1 point from four straight wins into the finals. Would have been a good story.
