VT off to one of their worst starts in the Beamer Era at 3-4 (1-2 ACC). Consecutive winning season streak is in jeopardy. They need to pick things up or Beamer's job is in jeopardy imo, he just looks so old and confused. Would hate to see a legend go out this way

Western Kentucky at No. 5 LSU, 7 p.m., ESPNU

aren't these mid-season SEC out of conference matchups supposed to be against complete cupcakes like Furman? probably a little tougher matchup than LSU was looking for.

I was really rooting for WKU this year until I realized they're no longer in the Sun Belt. They are really, really good for a crappy team.

ULaLa wins...the "qb with the longest throwing motion" competition. He looks like he's starting an old lawnmower and then throwing it forward instead.

It's like I'm listening to a crazy person. This week is full of conference matchups with practically no creampuff games at all. This is the part where the teams really define themselves because their opponents, week in & week out, already know them. Granted, this means all the ACC games will suck, but daddy can't help that. Plus sometimes there's jugs and other brickabrack on the line.

Even the Thur & Fri games have 4 out of 5 with decent reasons to watch:

RunGSU at Appalachian St;
Don't think of this as a Sun Belt game, think of it as two longtime power FCS teams getting their foot in the door. Last year RunGSU was the clear class of the conference while Appy St had some struggles. Well, they've reloaded and this game could have the feel of an FCS championship--but the players keep it all inside. Plus, possibly the only more embarrassing Michigan loss, except like Citizen Kane that headline may be obscurred by later status upgrades.

Temple at East Carolina; The Pirates have shown some moxie and while you may have heard about Temple maybe this time you could actually try watching them. It is a conference (I think) road game. At some point if Temple stays in the conversation we are going to need to talk about Bill Cosby.

UCLA at Cal; Cal (America's Sweetheart) plus UCLA's "mystery lineup" as the team from LA surprisingly struggles to *fill holes*--ordinarily a regional specialty.

Friday Memphis at Tulsa; Picture you're Memphis and have to pull a short turnaround road game after the biggest win in program history against, apparently, your biggest rival. Add that Tulsa, while not particularly good, still has a pulse. This is a legit tough spot, and a worthwhile opportunity to give these guys a good look.

OK...now I feel bad leaving out Utah State at San Diego State. Uh...it's on late? I do know San Diego State lost a home game to South Alabama so I ASSSUME they're a big dog to even Chukie Keeton-less Utah State. Hey, maybe the Aggies revert to the triple-option! Hey, you can't prove their not...in advance. Ok, maybe you can--but you won't.

Don't even get me started about Saturday! Tennessee brings their pumpkin-orange asses into Bama off a bye week off of finally winning one of those games. TAMU goes to Ole Miss where both look to bounce back while changing venue. Stanford hosts Washington, Utah travels to a stat beast, Texas tries to build off that huge upset+bye week against KState, the Baylor Show is on again, I assume the B1g10 will wind up having a few laughs, Auburn and Arkansa duel for the coveted "W" trophy, LSU sees if they can handle Western Kentucky's iteration of the air rade (prediction: yes they can), and if you miss Florida during their bye week AND/OR just plain miss watching #1 dual-threat qb coming out of high school Jeff Driskel, you can watch him lead the fighting Louisiana Tech Bullfrogs against Middle Tennessee who may or may not play well but who, regardless, really *should be* Memphis' biggest rival. I know, I know..."bulldogs" but my version is just plain better and daddy can't help that either.

If'n you still need help finding something to love this week, IDK, tell me your team or region.
