I liked Knoxville. It’s definitely top half college town in the SEC. I’d put it in the second tier along with Fayetteville and Auburn. Athens is the clear #1. I don’t consider Nashville a college town.

It'd be funnier if I weren't also living it every day.

Bama won a national title during their blackhole between Bryant and Saban. That's nearly an contradicion.

Homer Smith really. That was the only Stallings year Bama even won the SEC and the only year of his they were ever ranked #1. In fact it was the only WEEK they were #1 before Saban.

Also, and this is true, Miami was an 8 point favorite and had a 7.6 to 4.5 ypp advantage but 2 more turnovers. Bama literally had 4 pass completions that game vs 2 interceptions. And no, they were not running a wishbone offense at that point. The stats would be even more lopsided without that *beautiful* bomb-strip-tackle by George Teague that was called back for a penalty.

So barely lucky at all.

In the 23 years between the two GOATs they finished unranked 11 times and in the top 5 just 3 times. I learned to care about the games against the Mississippi schools. Mississippi. I mean, it was no Charlie Weiss, but it was pretty bad.

When I was at UGA, we took a road trip to Columbia for the USCe game

My buddy was drunk and ranting about how "Columbia is the biggest **** hole of a town that I've ever seen..."

then adds

"And I've been to Memphis AND Detroit before!"

Tennessee is hiring UCF’s Josh Heupel for some reason. His teams had a worse record every year he was at ucf so I’m sure ucf fans aren’t sad he’s leaving. Just a very underwhelming hire imo but I guess who else are they gonna get at this point with the state of their program and sanctions probably coming down hard soon

Oh yeh, forgot to mention Tennessee also hired UCF’s AD like a week ago. So, when heupel predictably bombs, does he get got too? Why tie your new job/career to someone at your last job, especially an underwhelming head coach who’s teams got worse and worse. Just asking for failure. What a dumpster fire program

I feel like there's tons of examples where it's more the program than the coach that sets them up for success. Don't see Heupel working out at Tennessee but then again I'm not sure who would.

If I'm UCF's new AD, I am calling up Tennessee every day to ask for a home and home

Kinda hard to improve your record when you start 12-1.

Am reading that GUS is UCF’s top choice to succeed Josh Heupel.

Good hire. I think he’ll do well there and he’s probably best at the G5 level. He won’t have to play LSU, bama, and uga every year so that’ll be in his favor. Ucf got a home hire from who is a available. I see many ucf fans crying on twitter they they could have done better. Like really? Who are you gonna get right now that has the experience like Gus

I agree—UCF is a top 2 or 3 Group of 5 program, and success there will have another P5 program calling in short order.

Can’t imagine who they’d get that would be any kind of meaningful upgrade.
