Yes, and he's also had plenty of super-impressive defenses (including this year) and considered one of the best for a long time. While it still remains to be seen if he can be a good head coach, "finding out" with his track record seems like a much better idea than hiring some career inept coming off one good year. Generally bad coaches stay bad and good coaches stay good, with occasional outlier years. Generally.

Dana Holgorsen is leaving for Houston. What a weird few days in coaching changes. Sounds like he was gonna be fired after next year anyway so I guess it’s a good reset for him. Now who the heck does wvu get to replace him? Whoever temple hires? Lmao

Such a weird few days.

Feel like WVU is unlikely to have the infrastructure to stay competitive in the Big XII for the next few years at least

Ohio State lets all their students in as freshman. By the way . . . why wasn't Schiano hired at Tennessee, I suppose they got a call from a program that was winning though.

there was an article about how he can get the same caliber recruits at Houston that he can at WVU, even with UH being a g5. plus houston is a superior place to live in general and he likes the school.

also what others said, wvu looking at some rebuilding bottom teams coming up and he was in the last year of his contract.

I mean, have any of you BEEN to Morgantown, WV?

WVU was a good place for the Skullet to let his freak flag fly. Going down to a G5 school preserves that ability and if he's going to get paid truckloads of money (plus not have to play Oklahoma) why not?

It's a commuter school, but as a somebody making bank, Houston can treat you to much much more than West Virginia can.

Why would he have been on the hotseat next year at WV? He just went 9-4. Pretty good for WV.

no...he has a 5 year/$20 million contract in a state with no personal income tax.

looks like he was making $3.6M/year base contract at WV. http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/

Wvu wasn’t giving him an extension or matching any offers that’s why. His contract was expiring next year. All indications were leaning to wvu not renewing it. So, Holgorsen is walking

Houston is just too hot. I couldn't do it despite it being a far superior city

Amen. It ain't even like normal hot--more like deadly radiation melting faces and ****. August in Houston is when I found out I'm a sissy!

Houston is 95* and 95% humidity for 140 consecutive days every year. It just wears you down.

Houston has higher expectations than WV does at this point. Definitely an interesting move.

Clearly I'd give living in Houston the edge over Morgantown despite never been in either.

Texas college job is always an interesting job to think about though Texas is on the rebound but A&M is kinda stagnant atm and there's certainly plenty of room to be the next program in line versus the SMU/TCU/North Texas/Baylol's/etc, etc, etc.
