Holy **** I would love to have LSU's success.

Dids, pretty much everyone disagrees with you, and thinks UGA should be doing better.

Consistently recruits top 10. Then consistently has top 5 amount of players in the NFL each year. Great players coming in and out of the program. The talent is there. The titles (natty, sec, etc) are not.

And, it's not just the number of losses, but the way we lose:

By 28 at home to Bama and by 24 to Florida are this year's.
2014 by 18 to 7-6 Florida.
2013 by 15 to Mizzou
2012 by 28 to USCe
2011 by 32 in SECCG to LSU

etc, etc. 10 straight years of losing a game by 15+

Theres no way Georgia should be the "Bama" of the east

Florida has had more success in the last 25 years than any team in the east and only during Muschamp and Zook years has it been weak.

Bama wasn't even the Bama of the West before Saban arrived.

Lol at the short memories in this thread, people don't remember the insane **** that was going on in Austin during Mack's last season, just two short years ago. Yeah, they're totally sedate.

Big part of the reason I have always hated Michigan. My aunt (by marriage) is the other part.

Florida consistently underperformed (when they weren't cheating) before Spurrier arrived and did it again under Zook & Muschamp.

LSU was inexplicably bad for a really long time.

Georgia underperformed between Dooley and Richt.

Bama underperformed between Stallings and Saban.

Then coaches like Price and Petersen become perennial winners at barren wastelands like Wazzu and Boise St.

Coaching matters. A LOT. No team is a guaranteed winner. Definitely no team is guaranteed to win at the highest levels.

Bama is the Southern Cal of the SEC, they are either crushing or being crushed by NCAA probation.

I'm not saying Saban runs a clean program, but he seems to run a "clean" program.

He can twist and bend the rules without technically breaking them like no one CFB has seen before (mainly because coaches usually say "**** it" and openly break every rule they can find).

Mike Shula.

Since Richt took over UGA, UGA has had 8 10 win seasons, Bama has had 9. The difference is that 7 of Bama's 9 are the last 7.

Meh

Calipari has a history of NCAA sanctions that few can rival (only coach to have Final Four appearances voided at 2 schools!).

AFAIK, Saban hasn't gotten a school busted at any of his stops.

But in a more general way:

1) Rep built long ago under old Southern coach with mostly homegrown white talent

2) Years of mediocrity (with some highlights) under subsequent coaches

3) Now dominant with Yankee coaches who recruit from all over

4) Delusional fanbase that expects titles every year, despite losing players to pros

Also, most great things you can describe as mediocrity (with some highlights)

Clean hands. The key is to have a ring of boosters and middle men buffer away the actual coaching staff. The longer a school's winning tradition stretches back the more adept they are at doing it. But yes rubber rule stretching is beneficial also.

If you are a top tier program it isn't the 10 win seasons that matter, it is the 12+ win seasons that matter. 10 wins is an accomplishment for Ole Miss.
