It's not a live ball until it passes behind the center's groin. Trust me, I got thrown out of a game for swatting at the ball between the center's legs once. OK, three times, but all in one game and nobody ever told me it was a rule.

Thanks. I didn't see what happened. Only that the ball was behind the Arky qb (in shotgun) but waved off as a live ball. Nobody was raising hell, so I figured there must be a reasonable explanation that I missed and they didn't show a replay.
