Ah, well this explains our whole disagreement. Cal hasn't been drawing live against a good team in 17 years, so to us you've gotta be one of the ~10 worst P5 teams in order to "suck"

If Michigan and Georgia played FIU every week and went 13-0, would they still make the playoffs?

Georgia at least fine, they are the defending champion. What the **** has Michigan done to be ranked ahead of Texas and Florida State? Beat ECU by 27 and UNLV by 28? It's not even like they're beating those teams by 50.

Texas beat Rice by 27 (who just went on to beat Houston this week) and then WENT TO ALABAMA AND BEAT THEM BY DOUBLE DIGITS IN THEIR OWN HOUSE

FSU beat southern Miss by 53 points (which is what top-5 teams are SUPPOSED to do against bottom of the barrel G5 teams) and then BEAT THE LIVING **** OUT OF LSU ON A NEUTRAL FIELD

And it's not like these teams are upstarts out of nowhere with 3* talent. They're packed to the brim with 4 and 5 stars and elite transfers, and it's not like they are low-brand teams like Baylor or Oregon State or something. It's TEXAS and FLORIDA STATE

It makes zero sense

Michigan plays BOWLING GREEN this week, maybe if they win by 29 they can jump to #1

Lol Michigan sure butthurts people here

It’s actually quite simple though. If they win the Big Ten they are in and deserve to be. If they don’t they won’t and won’t deserve to be.

Hope this helps

Grunching…why the non UGA SEC teams so bad this past week? More parity now or something else?

If they go 12-1 with a single top-25 win, they will be in, but they won't deserve to be.

If they go 13-0, fine

Exactly. Otherwise Ohio State might have made the playoffs last year.

About the worst two weeks for the SEC that I can remember. Even the wins were bad

Tennessee beat Austin Peay by 17 and need a goalline stand to keep it form being 30-20. AP had more first downs

Tulane was playing without Pratt, and was very live with a few minutes left in the 4th

UK was up 4 on Eastern Kentucky with 8 minutes left and the box score looked competitive

Arkansas beat Kent State by 22, but only outgained them 308 to 200? That's probably the worst team in 1-a they just lost to UCF by 50

MTSU went to the wire with Mizzou before losing by 4

Miss State and Auburn beat the 2 of the worst P12 teams by the skin of their teeth, so like I mean a win's a win but wasn't exactly classic SEC

The other wins were LSU, Florida and UGA beating Grambling, McNeese and Ball State by the margins that they were supposed to.

And then of course, Bama, ATM and Vandy all lost

Lol at “if they go 13-0, fine” very generous of you

No, if they go 12-1 but beat out PSU/OSU to get to the game then they do in fact deserve it. Maybe that’s too absolute, but most scenarios they would. So we watch the games and circle back on it later.

Yep. That explains it. By your definition, neither team sucks.

I’m not sure what you are saying exactly but OSU did deserve to go last year (and proved worthy) but Michigan in same type of situation probably wouldn’t be. So there is no contradiction if that’s what you are implying.

You analyze different situations, differently.

Getting docked for playing App close when App is likely just a decent team.

i posted this yesterday but it seems like the new NIL rules are favoring the big money schools/traditional powers. someone like Arch Manning who is from New Orleans almost certainly would have gone to an SEC school 5 years ago but now UT can pay him $10 million to come to Austin without having to worry about having to keep it secret or getting caught and going on probation so they were able to lure him away from LSU/Ole Miss/Bama .

Wonder how much MSU is paying the girl so they can use the morals clause to dump Tucker without a buyout? Give it to her as a "settlement" for the "hideous crime" and save $40+ million while getting even for being suckered in the original contract. Texas A&M supporters should look closely especially with Petrino's history.

fwiw, UNC fell five positions in the updated FPI to #26 (bt Auburn and L'ville), while App St is now #78

C'mon Man!
And just like that we've dropped 4 spots in the AP Poll down to 20th. As I said, there is nothing to gain whatsoever by playing App St other than another tough game for experience.

At least that was the last of the 3 game series. I’m all for tough OOC games, but yeah, play a team from P5 over App.

Thanks…even worse than at first glance.

Wonder how free the money is for UGA to win the SEC is this year.

They're better than even money, which makes sense. The only other plausible contender in the East is Tennessee, and they do have to go play in Knoxville, but the rest of UT's sched is:

@Florida
USCe
ATM
@ Bama
@ UK
@ Mizzou
Vandy

while UGA has:
USCe
@ Auburn
Uk
@ Vandy
@ UF
Mizzou
Ole Miss

I UGA wins @ Tenn, they're basically a lock. Almost impossible for UGA to lose two others and also UT wins out

If they lose @ Tenn, both UGA winning out and UT losing two are more likely than not

And, hard to imagine they won't be a considerable favorite by the time the SECCG rolls around, although it wouldn't be the most shocking thing in the world if Bama or LSU get it together and really improve by the end of the season

Also like, we don't exactly now that UGA is immortal. They did lose a ton of production from last year and all they've done this year is beat up on Tennessee Martin and Ball State. Like, Kansas also could've beaten both those teams by 40 so idk

Welcome to the life of a typical Pac-12 team, playing all these teams like Boise State and SDSU which you get zero credit for beating but you still lose like a third of the time

It's not a coincidence that the best start in history for the pac-12 has happened at the same time as the MWC being really down

Sun Belt teams have been getting a lot better, that conference is going to be fun as hell this year. USA, Troy, Marshall, App State, JMU, Coastal are all projected to be pretty good (and close to one another) and Texas State looks like they could be alright too
