nothing wrong with Venables (no Clempson ties) being a cuck if he stays on your staff, makes more than dozens of HCs, and keeps coaching and recruiting your top 5 defense year after year.
Venebles is smart, he's gonna hang in there til Saban retires in a few years and Dabo takes his talents to Tuscaloosa then slide into the HC spot and occupy that spot for the rest of his life.

For guys that are making over a million dollars a year as a coordinator yeah, there isn't much incentive to leave unless there is an opening at an elite program. It is definitely unusual though for the lower level assistant to not move in order to become coordinators or head coaches.

Any rumblings as to who Saban is looking to scoop up to fill out the staff?

Something is up at Virginia Tech - there's a mass defection of key players. Starting WR and TE, QB that started as a freshman and started this year until a season ending injury, co-starting RB who would be main back with other graduating, and now rumors of their most promising young WR jumping ship as well. Fuente looked great years 1 and 2, but things have gone off the rails a bit in the last 12 months.

I love ESPN interviewing Mookie Betts for a basketball game and talking about bowling, rather than showing the impending Rick Barnes meltdown. jk. like rowling.

Have we LOL'd at Clay Helton yet today, if not any time is a good time.

Why? I mean I’m still laughing at Kliff being hired and then saying peace days later if that’s what you mean. Helton does seem like a lame duck. I mean rip the band aid off and fire him already. If there was a coach that is 100 percent to be fired mid season it’s him.

I believe he's referring to their top signee entering the transfer portal. Is that normal?

Something something, already their lowest ranking recruiting class since records started being kept and probably losing their top "commit" as well, something something.

Personally I see no reason to laugh at Clay Helton--I admire his ability to remain employed despite a career that only indicates he is a bad coach unless he has the #3 draft pick QB around to clean up his messes. Now Lynn Swann I could laugh at, or USC for sticking with both of them.

But, yeah, having a five star prospect sign, enroll early and then bail three weeks into his first semester long before spring practice even starts, that's mega-elite fail.

This would almost be understandable if he signed with Michigan, enrolled early and figured out he couldn't handle the snow and 40lb+ overweight college women everywhere, but Southern ****ing California with infinite hot chicks. I can't even comprehend wtf went wrong for this to happen so quickly.

Wow, Mizzou just got banned from all post season for the 2019 season because some former tutor did the work for 12 former student athletes.

Bet you Kelly Bryant is pissed. Wonder if he can re-transfer somewhere else before the season. He hasn’t used any eligibility technically right?

Edit. Postseason ban for the baseball team too. This came outta no where

Man, the NCAA must have been really, really mad at UNC to do that.

If Bryant is a grad transfer (I don't remember) he should be able to move on without a problem. Jeff George Jr went from Illinois to Michigan last fall then left for somewhere else (Pitt?) before the seaon started.

It happened to the other Kelly too. Since the tutor gets $8/hr, the NCAA classifies her as 'an employee of the athletic department providing illegal benefits.' I suppose Mizzou didn't have any wins worth vacating.

Oh well. Usual idiots around here blaming the poor tutor as an attention whore and it’s ****in disgusting. Hopefully Bryant can go somewhere else. I don’t really care much

I've learned you should never self report. Just lie like UNC.

All that being said yeah I don’t understand how the penalties are so severe for mizzou and UNC gets off scot free

The "stated" reason was that since the fake classes were available to all students (remember the frat bros got in on the action) they did not constitute an additional benefit. A grey area even though the classes were only made *for* the athletes. I can't remember the caveat on the tutor specifically, but the overall explanation was, "Technically this wasn't a lack of institutional control because the institution knew exactly what they were doing and directed it. We just don't like...rogue athletic departments?"

Something like that.

Don't know the details in either case, but it matters who employed the tutor (in a formal sense). For example, pretty sure it's worse if it's a university employee, rather than an athletic foundation employee. Nonsense like that matters.
