But recruits do talk to each other, and it doesn't seem like a good recruiting strategy to me to be a complete douche to some recruit. But hatersgonnahate and its already clear what side this board will take .

UK might not win a title in 5 years, though we will easily be one of the favorites 2011-2012. If UK can't make the final 4 then, there really might be something wrong with Cal's recruiting style after all.

Always bugs me when people say Cal has 5 30 wins seasons in a row. No he doesn't.

it's very hard to win with one and done-ers. in cal's last taken away trip, yes they had rose but the team was dominanted by upper classman like Anderson, CDR, and Dorsey. maybe he'll be able to pull it with the class in 2011-2012 and odds are since the SEC sucks and UK's OOC isn't that great that they will probably be a #1 seed.....winning 6 games in a row with underclassman in the tourney is tough especially with underclassmen at the guard spots. cal should try to start recruiting lesser talented players at certain key positions (maybe not one and doners but guy who will stay 2-3 years) instead of jsut going for all one and doners like he did last year and he's done a lot lately. i'm really interested to see what will happen if WWW really becomes an agent......i bet cal's pull will decrease but he should need less help at UK than he did at Memphis.

Yeah I kind of agree. Cal clearly recruited Stacey Poole this year to be a 4 year player. If UK does have a shot at winning in 2011-2012 it will be just as much because from what D Miller/Hood/Liggins contribute as Teague/Gilchrist/Q Miller contribute. One of the big problems UK had this year was from a lack of senior leadership.

what does lack of senior leadership have to do with not making a shot outside of the paint vs WVU

only seniors can make threes in elite eight games obviously

freshman can but they normally haven't played that many games in either huge stadiums like where the final four is or many tough games at the college level on neutral courts against top 16 level opponents.

I am not going to say that I support Cal 100% in everything he does. However, The Seattle Times did not necessarily have all of its facts straight and this situation is certainly not what it has been made out to be.

The only time I recall hating Cal before he came to UK was when he lobbied for Memphis to be a 1 seed claiming that Conference USA was a legit conference and going undefeated through conference play meant something.

uk will be an nbadl team until cal leaves.........why would grades go up spring semester per the AD? Wall supposedly had the best grades of the bunch but I doubt he goes to class again. Then you have Bledsoe and Cousins who are ******ed who probably stopped going to class already and should get Fs. I guess the remaining group should do better but who knows. The two best student athletes on the team are gone IMO (Patterson/Wall).

My main issue is with Jerry Tipton, the man who wrote that article. If you guys lived locally you would know what a joke this guy is to every UK fan. If you are really bored sometime you should try to find like 10 articles he has written and read them all. You won't believe your eyes. His writing is literally banned from most UK message boards.

its bs a kid can go to school get a 1.667 and play the entire year... though I think since 2 of them are leaving in bad academic standing, UK should be losing scholarships here soon, but I'm sure there will be a rule change for UK or a workaround of some sort.

You're right about one thing, and that is his facts are correct.

But any sports fan should know that numbers can be manipulated and presented in a way to prove different points, to make situations look better or worse, and to make things look more significant or less significant.

He presents statistics that are true, but the way the information is given, one cannot help but focus on the words about UK having the worst grades. No one ends up caring about the fact that not all of the schools offered their GPA's, that the margin in between UK's average GPA at the bottom and other schools' GPA's in the middle is very small, and that these are student athletes that don't even want to be student athletes in the first place but are forced to be by the NBA. If you do not like Kentucky, are you going to write "UK has the worst grades of all with a 2.0" or "UK's 2.0 trails a load of other SEC schools that have 2.1-2.4." Do you see what I am saying?

He's a journalist, not a spin doctor for UK athletics. Lol at thinking that people who don't spin information in the most generous light possible are somehow doing something wrong.
