Remember that Princeton once got a 5 seed (they were #8 in the country I believe), another year they were an 8, so it's not unheard of for Ivy team to get a good seed.
Ivy is no cakewalk this year. Harvard and Jeremy Lin have almost matched Cornell. I assume that losing two out of three to Harvard means no at-large bid?

Harvard would have the best team in the Ivies *by far* if not for Cornell, but they do not have the team Cornell has (this is not the homer in me talking, I have watched numerous Harvard games this year, including BC and Georgetown).

Nevertheless, if they split and both finish 13-1, I can easily see the loser of the playoff getting an at large, assuming of course that Cornell does not lose to either South Dakota or Clarkson (before they start the Ivies).

Harvard is coached by Tommy Amaker though. That's gonna catch up to them at some point.

Tommy Amaker has done a pretty good job at Harvard so far.

Lin is a hell of a basketball player and gave us a lot of trouble last year at Harvard. I think we would have had a shot at an at-large if we had held on last night (LOL refs). The loser of the Ivy might still have a shot if the league ends up in a tie and is determined by a one game playoff.

It's pretty easy to simulate, since neither Harvard nor Cornell has had any significant injuries this year.

Harvard's has a good rating in my numbers, with a fairly flat strength regression (meaning they don't play significantly better or worse against good or bad teams, and experience dropoffs as a big fave that are almost exactly normal)

Cornell's rating is about a point and a half lower than Harvard's but they have a very, very slight uptick against good teams. Too early to tell if that's just variance though. Also, I haven't plugged in yesterday's games yet, so I suspent that the KU game will be a substantial boost, maybe even 2 points or so to their rating.

Also, their HCA's are both exactly identical, so that's a wash.

Anyway, to make a long story short, they're almost identical at this point in the season, and both games will be flips

yes, but he was terrible at Seton Hall and even worse at Michigan. I'm going with history here.

was he really that bad at Seton Hall? He was there 97-98 to 2000-01... 3 NITs and a sweet 16... not like Seton Hall had a strong lead in or has done much since he left

I don't think he was overly bad at Michigan, they were 1 Big Ten game away from NCAA probably 3 different seasons, a bit unlucky and not a great in game coach but Michigan wasn't some powerhouse at the point he came in and they probably won't be that special in the future.... a bubble NIT team right now

maybe terrible is a stretch, but he spent 10 years in BCS conferences and made the NCAA tournament once. That's a pretty bad resume imo.

Not necessarily defending him but didnt scUM have sanction issues while he was there?

I'm still in the 'hes an overrrated coach' boat though.

The best what? Hes not a better player than wall. Duke should win easily unless they go like 2-30 from deep since the only thing tech is good at is inside defense which duke will shoot right over.
