Did you see the spat he had with the assistant A.D. this week?

So 4 NITs in 5 years doesn't get you fired at MD these days? I would think expectations are bigger than this at MD.

Crazy ass game. Devan Downey is one of the most underrated players in the nation. He does so much for South Carolina both on offense and defense. The Gamecocks are really making a push towards the NCAA tourney, the job that Darrin Horn has done here in amazing. We had the exact same team last season and couldn't even make the NIT under Dave Odom.

they arent gonna get rid of him because of the recruiting class coming in, but Id rather have them be consistent and beat the crummy teams like uva, md, state, etc. with regularity and lose to the top ones instead of losing to all the weak teams but running hot once for a big win

amazing who you can beat and how you can get wins when you shoot over 75 percent from the line instead of under 60 and dont push 20 turnovers. fundamentals are fundamental

Lance Stephenson is currently at Maryland for an official visit, according to a source at Maryland.
The Terps play Miami Saturday night in ACC action.
Stephenson’s Lincoln High School teammate, 6-foot-8 senior forward James Padgett, committed to Maryland in September.

The 6-foot-5 Stephenson, listed as the No. 1 player in the Class of 2009 by the Hoop Scoop

no offense ZJ, but sometimes i wonder why some of these blue chip recruits, like Stephenson, would go to a school like MD with the current state of the program. I know with his teammate going there is a big factor, but he can basically pick whatever school he wants to go to.

and a big LOL at Pat Knight.

i wouldn't want to come to Maryland either right now. But i can hope. We missed the boat on these guys after we won the NCAA 'SHIP. Gary has been an awful recruiter. Also theres about a 10% chance we get him anyways.

If that weren’t enough, there’s this: Hewitt’s contract renders him almost fireproof.

His deal was reworked in April 2004 after he led Tech to the NCAA title game. Dave Braine, the AD who hired Hewitt in 2000 and had seen his vision realized, rewarded his coach with a six-year contract that rolls over automatically and that provides a buyout in full for each of the five remaining seasons if he’s fired “without cause” (meaning, just for losing).

Hewitt is making $1.3 million this year. His total compensation will increase to $1.375 million next season and to $1.45 million in 2010-11. Were Tech to dismiss Hewitt today, it would have to pay him a total of $7.175 million.

By way of contrast, Tech was compelled to pay Chan Gailey $4 million when it fired him as football coach, and Georgia is on the hook for $1.5 million after canning Dennis Felton.

Georgia’s athletics department is flush with cash. Tech’s is not. Tech is paying Gailey through 2011 not to coach, and it just handed Paul Johnson a 50 percent raise — to $2.45 million per season
cue worst contracts ever thread
