The Suns made it look easy but that is a really difficult play to execute against a competent defense.

Playoff MVP Booker set a PERFECT BONE CRUNCHING screen which enabled that play to work.

Wrong. Here is the applicable rule (Rule #11: Basket Interference - Goaltending)
Quote:
1. Touch the ball or the basket ring when the ball is sitting or rolling on the ring and using the basket ring as its lower base or hang on the rim while the ball is passing through.
EXCEPTION: If a player near his own basket has his hand legally in contact with the ball, it is not a violation if his contact with the ball continues after the ball enters the cylinder, or if, in such action, he touches the basket.
b. Touch any ball from within the playing area when it is above the basket ring and within the imaginary cylinder.
c. During a field goal attempt, touch a ball, which has a chance to score, after it has touched any part of the backboard above ring level, whether the ball is considered on its upward or downward flight.
d. During a field goal attempt, touch a ball, which has a chance to score, after it has touched the backboard below the ring level and while the ball is on its upward flight.
e. Trap the ball against the face of the backboard after it has been released. (To be a trapped ball, three elements must exist simultaneously. The hand, the ball and the backboard must all occur at the same time. A batted ball against the backboard is not a trapped ball.)
f. Touch any ball from within the playing area that is on its downward flight with an opportunity to score. This is considered to be a “field goal attempt” or trying for a goal.
g. Touch the ball at any time with a hand which is through the basket ring.
h. Vibrate the rim, net or backboard so as to cause the ball to make an unnatural bounce, or bend or move the rim to an off-center position when the ball is touching the ring or passing through.
i. Touch the rim, net or ball while the ball is in the net, preventing it from clearing the basket.
Note section (b) DOES NOT REQUIRE A SHOT ATTEMPT.

Best parts about that Clippers/Suns game:

(1) PLAYOFF P with those ice-cold free throws at the end
(2) One of the announcers referring to Beverley's performance as "effort, energy, enthusiasm"

I seriously forgot George missed the 2 FT's for a sec because it happened like a ****ing hour ago. Wow, what a huge choke for him.

Ben Simmons should be grateful

This rule was put in decades ago. It was a reaction to Bill Russell tipping a ball in from inside the cone from an inbounds pass with 1 second remaining. Almost the same situation as tonight.

This. And in this case JVG was right that Booker set a great screen that got Ayton free to make the dunk.

Also ... that was really pathetic angleshooting by the Clippers with not having the same players on the floor.

However, I do agree with you that Monte is great.
Yea I'm not trying to take away from THIBS. What he did with our KNACKS was a minor miracle. Its an indictment on what a joke the NBA regular season is and once teams actually try (see playoffs) that defense wasn't quite as effective. And no one can score

I also have to say that the Suns taking Ayton with the #1 overall pick has worked out pretty well for them.

He played AMAZING tonight. 24 pts on 12-15 fg 14 reb 1 ast 1 stl 1 blk 1 to

I thought this during round 1. Is it possible that the 3 real teams in the top 5 of that 2018 draft (lol Kings, lol Mempis) don't re-do their picks given the chance?

Hawks are better than everyone expected even when they were playing the Knicks.

Trae has shown to be a real playoff performer. Capela was a tough matchup because the Knicks didn't have Mercedes Mitch.

Weird ESPN did not show a replay on that, other than the original pan. The most important review of the game. The riggage plot thickens...

Cavaliers, Wolves, Rockets Interested In Trading 2021 Lottery Pick
JUN 22, 2021 8:37 PM

The NBA hasn't seen very many high lottery picks traded in the recent future, but this lottery could be different with several teams interested in trading for a more established player.

"There are multiple teams, I'm told: Cleveland, Minnesota, Houston, who are going to be very aggressive if they're in the top of this lottery with perhaps putting those picks in trades to bring back young veteran players or All-Star caliber players to accelerate their rebuilds," said Adrian Wojnarowski on ESPN shortly before the draft.

The draft is widely considered to be a good one, especially with five potential All-Stars in Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, Jalen Suggs, Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga.

Except it's not a legal play. Other than that it's a great strategy.

It’s a dead ball until it hits Ayton’s hands. At that point, it becomes a live ball and subsequent dunk because Ayton has possession.
