Any of you old enough to remember Roddy Beaubois. Guard for the Mavs Cuban considered untouchable in any offer got so much hype from his fans also people just projected whatever they wanted on him. Didn’t work out at all and health was part of it the opportunity cost not putting him in trade talks was massive there’s a reason after 2011 Dallas never even won a playoff series. Point is there a lot more ex like that which this also reminds me somewhat of it’s just people only selectively remember the young prospects like this where it all works out more than the converse
Roddy Beaubois was the 25th pick who rose up the draft ranks late due to measurables. MPJ was the #1/2 mocked player prior to the 2017 season and #1/2 recruit, coming off one of the most dominant 12 months in Prep history. He led a previously 3-18 Nathan Hale team to the national title over powerhouses like Sierra Canyon and Oak Hill. He then backed that up in the EYBL (Co-MVP with Trae Young) and also took home the Macdonald's Game MVP to boot. There hadn't been a HS senior to make that kind of a run since Lebron.

I'm not sure there are comps with that pedigree that didn't at least become top 30 players with that sort of rookie season except for guys who got injured like Oden. Derrick Rose maybe, but he had four years of being quite dominant, if overrated. His injury concern is real, but barring that I'm not seeing much that doesn't put him into the trajectory of a future star.

I think he has been (rightfully) trying to frame his legacy. And a huge point in his favor is never missing a playoff game.

I don't think this quote is about anyone in particular.

Small small window to put all the pieces together perfectly with little free agent help. Kinda depressing
It’s tough. But all 4 of those guys you named signed a second contract with their draft team. They then left after that didn’t work out, so it’s not like they are finishing the rookie contract and then bouncing.

I agree on A depth with B yuck. A is older though

Apparently most people agree with you on Hayward nobody took him I think for $18 it’s solid as a 3rd option I like the versatility in skill set

Here is the link with player salaries. And below are the general rules and guidelines. DM with questions or whatever else

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=591642438

the first tab is what you want btw

Basically build a 12 man NBA roster using the prices listed in the excel sheet. You will want the first tab in it NBA Salary Draft Prices in this, the other one is something separate NFL related.

Rules are in the sheet but to list them here for convenience

1) You are building for a 5 year window. The next 5 years and nothing else.

2) The Salary Cap is $120. Work around that.

3) 12 man roster. Look if you are getting tired by the end and just want to say "Any 3 $1 players" or "Any 2 $2 players and 1 $1 player" instead of spending time finding a specific one for the end of the bench that's fine. Just factor that into your budget calculation.

4) This is not a 2K franchise unfortunately, no settings to turn injuries off so factor in durability/injury track record accordingly.

5) There are 320 players in there but inevitably I know I didnt get to all of them. If there's someone you particularly want but the price isnt listed, you can DM me/respond to this asking for a price Ill make one and include it in there. Sorry but no rookies from this upcoming class or international players

EDIT: Stop the presses! I did mine on a cap of $100 not $120. Going to spend some James Dolan money! KCP looked like he had a pretty good postseason...MAX CONTRACT! Jk, easy, lazy swap is Klay for Monk and move Monk to the bench. Legggoooo! Luka GOAT!

In reality this team stinks but I had to get LUKA GOAT on a squad. This exercise demonstrates how lopsided this current Lakers team is with TWO players putting their team over the budget. To win in the NBA that's what you need to win, but in the hypothetical world of this exercise where that isn't possible I'll roll with this for the next 5 years where dudes have plenty of room to grow and outperform their $ sign

LUKA $58
Klay $23
Dunc $10
Big Red Huerter $8
Rui Hatchimura $8
--------

Poetl $5
$Malik monk $3
Isiah Thomas $1
$1 x 4
