Standrew played well and actually hit some catch and shoot 3s. But is it too much to ask for 1 assist?

The NBA is so much better without Kevin Durant. Hopefully he stays forever injured.

Years ago, I forget which year exactly, LeBron said to the media that he could score 40 a night if he wanted to but he prefers to get his teammates involved.

Serious reply: they're good, but not championship good, and the probability porzingis breaks is high enough to bring their equity down a lot.

I'm sure he could keep shooting to average 40 but he understands team offensive efficiency.

There are probably like 50 guys in the league who could average 40 if their coach would let them.

This is insane. I've almost never seen it happen besides with this *******. Gotta stop all those 4-0 runs, right Rick?
What makes it worse is that he took out KP (the best rim protector) for absolutely no reason at all, gave up a wide open layup because no one...protected the rim.

Then he blew his last timeout. Every time I criticize Rick which seems like a lot because he does some really confusing thins (starting Courtney Lee, not playing Seth Curry in games 1/2 and not playing Delon Wright last night), I feel like I have to add the caveat that I think he's a great coach on a macro-level.

Dear All-In Mclovin of the Knickerbocker McLovins,

I write you this missive to let you know we are greatly pleased with the early showings of Kristaps Porzingis in the city of Dallas. While there was great concern and worry as to his health and ability to fit in, the early indications are extremely optimistic. Certainly it is too early to fully judge but I anticipate a lot of special plays between Mr. Porzingis and Mr. Doncic while wearing the Green and Blue.

I sincerely hope Mr. Dennis Smith Jr. is equally working out for the New York. Seems like he could be a good distributor Of ball to all those power forwards. (We laugh!). There is nothing I wish for more than this to be a win-win for both teams.

Finally, the Dallas Mavericks last were 2-0 fifteen years ago. A period that entails two finals appearances and an NBA Championship. It seems like Kristaps has helped usher in a new era. While the squad fell short in game three to the dynamic Blazers of Portland, it was still an entertaining match up of some good ball in bucket players on both sides. I hope Mr. Smith and others are bringing similar excitement to the Big Apple, and hopefully many triple-doubles.

Sincerely,

Markksman of the Mavericks Markksman

A lot of this has to do with Curry probably being overrated. A top 20 AT player doesn’t ever being on a god awful team. Just does not happen. Lots of season to play but early indications are not good.

I agree klay being out is a bigger deal, but steph is not likely on the level people have tried to install him at in the last couple of years.

Of course the warriors could win 79 straight!

True this. Funny thing for me is I had to adapt to games again. Was watching Mavericks vs blazers last night and Mavericks handling things well for more than a half but then things fell apart and Portland came on.

Had to remind myself how long basketball games are and just getting readjusted to the flow. But it is great stuff.

noooo this ain't the take. come on, man.

every shooter is going to make a sharp regression when they go from having 2 teammates that are top 5 shooters all-time to DAR and GR3.

curry is going to need some time to figure out how to handle defenses that are way happier to switch and trap him. but he's still the GOAT shooter so idk how you make the case that he's overrated after a 2 game sample.

maybe you could make the case that kerr is overrated tho.

You mean a guy whose missed 43 games when his back was sore, had a 35 year old with no head coaching experience sub for him. And that 35 year old went 39-4. Your telling me that guy with a sore back might be overrated? LDO

A lot of people mistake "more valuable" with "better at basketball". Curry is the greatest ceiling-raiser of all time. On a team with Curry-MJ-KD-Lebron-Shaq Curry would be the Most Valuable player on that team because he has the skillset that least overlaps with the other players, that doesn't mean he's actually better at basketball than any of those players.

Curry happened to be more valuable than KD on those particular GS teams so people mistake that for being better at basketball than KD. On the majority of NBA teams that don't have 3-4 hall of famers KD would be "more valuable" than Curry. On the current iteration of the Warriors Russell Westbrook would be "more valuable" than Steph (that doesn't mean he's better at basketball than Steph).
