fitz was always terrible. i like barnett

edit: the bref mvp calculator being weird isn't that surprising given pro-rating stuff as someone said. but like also you could prob have some sort variables related to all nba teams made or draft position or something that tells you who actually has a shot at any given time. i imagine it's mostly box score stuff plus team record for that season. i think the bref hof probability calculator also underrates some people

Oh yeah, stating the obvious that Lakers/Knax are always going to be the best. Pretty much everything the Lakers do outside of basketball appears to be the best.

Manu having a 20% chance of getting in according to it being one of the more glaring given he probably gets in twice if you split his career into NBA and non NBA

yeah manu is heavily penalized by his low # of all star games

It should be no surprise that players with atypical careers are going to be underrated.

If it were based solely on his NBA career, I think Manu isn't an obvious HOFer and he might be that guy who has to wait longer than normal to be inducted, but his international work easily pushes him over the edge. The problem is the people who think that Carmelo Anthony was ever a better player than Manu.

manu is a very egregious example, but i made a post a couple years ago (not exactly sure how long it was tbh) about a # of current studs being very underrated wrt hall of fame probability. think it was curry, harden, and someone else. at any rate someone like him coming out that low is a glaring flaw in the predictor even if his career is atypical

A couple of years ago, those guys had been in the NBA for eight seasons, so they probably shouldn't be rated highly by a method based on "if he retired today" because they didn't accumulate enough seasons with top ten stats.

Because of his relatively low MPG, Manu is penalized mainly for his lack of leaderboard numbers. This makes him comparable to a guy like Don Nelson.

It's not supposed to be a perfect predictor. It's supposed to be a decent predictor that doesn't require a lot of input or complex calculations.

some sick games tonight if everyone plays, AD and Giannis both questionable right now though.

what should the lines be for TOR @ MIL and NO @ DEN assuming everyone is healthy?

Clippers have a very deep And pretty good roster. I read from Zach Lowe’s predictions that they might be looking to showcase and then trade some players.

This makes sense as they owe the Celtics their 2019 draft pick, so we may very well see this fun to watch team sold for parts later this season.

Shouldn't the Clips want to miss the playoffs the next two years? Then they keep their picks

I understand why it outputs what it does. Like, i don’t really agree that it is decent. The probabilities are way too high for some players, though maybe I am overrating how hard it is to get into the HOF

Edit: the leaderboard weight is not that high. All star games look to be what hurt him the most. Think one more ASG would bump him to ~60% probability

Haha. He's a cool dude. Bumped in to him at the bar at the catch a few times before angel games. He'd just be around hanging out.

Yeah I think that's it. Basketball hall of fame is the easiest hall to get in to.

Mitch Richmond done changed the game. I can't come up with any argument against any player ever getting in now.

I'm being told that the Clippers played a tribute video for Austin Rivers. What is sam's hell is going on in this world.

John Henson is kind of awesome. Talking about not having Giannis tonight:

"Obviously he's out best player -- one of the best players in the world -- so losing a guy like that is going to hurt us, but we're prepared for this," he said. "I worked on rebounding it and taking it coast to coast filling in for him. So it should be a good day."

I've seen maybe 48 minutes worth of a few different Mavs games (I stagger my Mavs watching minutes for when Doncic is on the floor), exactly how good has Doncic been? He's been awesome according to my eyetest, throwing dimes, getting a bunch of separation with the stepback and other moves, but I've also seen people clown on him a bit in other forums.

They keep talking about how fat he is, but to me it's a positive that he's productive despite not being in elite shape. His thick body game kinda reminds me of latter-day Paul Pierce, a comp I haven't seen anybody make, but they seem similar in a lot of ways to me

I've got him in fantasy and I've noticed something, though it may just be coincidence/selective memory. He seems to always start out having a good shooting game but end up having a bad one. Like will be 4/6 and end up 5/13 or something. Seems to happen every damn game. Maybe a fitness issue?
