Marv GOAT showing his age a little here.

Marv: Here's Morris...FOR THREE. YES!

(Let's check the tape.)

9:28 Markieff Morris makes 20-foot jumper (Dennis Schroder assists)

Also Marv: They said he had a foot on the line.

Think dubs just gassed out tonight, but Cousins should get staggered with the bench units when the team is at full strength. He has played best in the lineup with Livingston/Klay/Iggy/Dray. Maybe he will figure it out but he is a liability. The lineup with Looney starting has been one of the best 5 man lineups in the league and looney in general has been much better with Curry/Durant than Cousins has. Team has more offensive upside with Cousins but it really isn’t needed and his defense prob won’t get substantially better

I mentioned the other day I was reading “Red and Me,” the story of Bill Russell and Red Auerbach’s connection. Alright, in the first NBA Finals game they were in, 1957 against the St. Louis Hawks, Auerbach exclaimed on the bench during the first quarter, “****. They are going to beat us 125-122.” The Hawks won it 125-123. Auerbach missed by one point. Russell said he took note like never before regarding a coach, all of whom to that point he said he considered fairly idiotic. So, the Celtics lose Game 1 of Russell’s first ever NBA Finals 125-123. Game 7, the Celtics won by the identical score. Both games 125-123. Both games in double overtime. The dynasty was born with this eerie numerical oddity.

Utah badly needs to sign IT3 in the offseason, outside of Mitchell nobody can create their own shot.

**** that noise.

KP deserves GMotY consideration maybe, but even in a world where Bud didn't exist, Nate deserves nothing. The Pacers, and their depth, win in spite of him, not because.

(They won tonight because they shot 60% from 3 and Bojan got 37 while MIN shot like 30% from 3. MoML).

Your Nate hate is insane and very narrow minded. He makes some dumb mistakes but there's a lot more to coaching than rotations and play calls. We have close to the best defence in the league with only 2-3 (4 with Dipo) positive defenders, and a fair few who used to be complete sieves. We have signing after signing after signing suddenly having career years when they join Indiana. Everyone goes on about the fantastic culture we have. He's doing insanely well with a very very thin list.

He's no Pop, but he's well above avg imo

EDIT: and he's a HUGE upgrade over that prick Vogel, who single handedly cost us that series against Raptors, which is probably ultimately why we don't have the guy who is top 3 in the MVP race anymore (though it might also be why we have KP over Bird now so I guess it's no huge disaster )

Sure, like running an offense. The Pacers have none. They run the PnR and Iso over and over and over. The Pacers consistently have a middle-of-the-road offense which, given their roster even with Vic out, is a joke.

He doesn't understand modern NBA basketball as illustrated by our 3pt attempts/game:

2016-2017: 27th
2017-2018: 26th
2018-2019: 28th

despite having Bojan (42.2% from 3), DC (41.5% from 3), Myles (40.8% from 3), and Doug McDermott who was brought in specifically to shoot 3s, as it's his only skill, (39.9% from 3) shooting only 2.9 att/game.

He just doesn't understand how to run an modern NBA offense.

That's Dan Burke. Do you think it's a coincidence that Burke has been an assistant for Indy for 19 years, and that regardless of our Head Coach, we're almost always in the top 10 of the NBA in Opp. FG%? (13 of the past 17 seasons).

Burke is our defensive specialist. He gets repeatedly credited by the FO and coaches as the man behind the curtain regarding the Pacers consistent success.

KP build a ridiculously deep team that isn't truly a contender but has the offensive firepower to compete with anyone outside of GS and MIL. Instead, they have the same great defense that basically every Indiana team has every year and an offense consisting of long 2s and little else.

The Pacers are 30-9 against teams below .500 and 11-13 against teams above. They're paper tigers who were struggling with legit teams even before Vic went down. They can beat crappy teams because they're so deep and talented, but when the time comes to step up and match up against TOR or MIL, they get out coached every time out.
