The speed and height that NBA players play at is hard to appreciate on tv. These guys play for years so the amount of injury opportunity is extremely high. There probably is some unidentifiable physical attributes that NBA players possess which helps them avoid serious injury through all the years of contact. Plus a lot of luck.

Thinking about top level NBA athletes made me actually think of JJ Barea. He looks out of place on an NBA floor. Listed at 6' but looks smaller. Average to short wingspan. 34 years old and in his 13th season, not bad.
