Those of us with Suns -1.5 weren't happy about that layup.

Wow so sick, ball bounced around forever on the rim too, just a normal lay in and there's prob enough time to foul and suns prob make a free throw

espn article on kyrie leaving cleveland. whole article is worth a read. lots of tidbits, but this one stands out

Quote:
During a rare practice in the middle of last season, coach Tyronn Lue, who was standing next to assistant coach and Irving confidant Phil Handy, called out to his young point guard.

"Ky," Lue said, "I want you to play a little faster."

"Why?" Irving asked.

"Because if we play faster, we get shots off easier."

"I don't need to play faster to get my shot off," Irving replied. "I can do that anytime."

"I'm not talking about your shot. I'm talking about RJ and JR," Lue said, citing teammates Richard Jefferson and Smith.

"Well, that's No. 23's job," Irving replied, referring to James.

According to members of the Cavs organization who witnessed the exchange, Lue ended the conversation by walking away, shaking his head.

Both Lue and Handy, whom Irving affectionately calls his "OG," confirmed the incident but declined to elaborate. "Kyrie is a great player," Lue says. "Please tell him I wish him the best."

The Raps offense and DD have improved a ton. It’s clear the organization was serious about this shift in offensive philosophy they alluded to after last season.

DD career high in assists making smart dishes off penetration and he can legit shoot the 3 now. Broke his career high twice in two weeks. I don’t know what it’s all worth, but this is the best Raps team ever.

I’m not sure if this is a joke or you have no interest in ever revising your opinion. DD has been the heart and soul of a very good team this season (3rd highest point differential) and has clearly improved in multiple ways

My opinion is lol DeRozan slappies. He's having by far his best year ever, it's quite plausible he's just shooting ridiculously hot to achieve a mid 30s 3pt percentage, and he's had a slightly positive effect on his team for the 1st time in his career. Congrats! Wow that DeRozan is amazing. What heart. What soul.

People will always vastly overrate the Kobe types who play like idiots.

Thayer I agree. Stars make your team better, and this is literally the first year we that it appears to have happened with DDR.

Re:Embiid and GOAT equity. It was talked about earlier and someone said they are losing faith, but the thing with Joel is he doesn't practice and sometimes doesn't even shoot-around with the team. On one hand that's scary that he keeps getting hurt despite Philly handling him with the utmost care, but on the other he's THAT FREAKING GOOD despite barely getting any time with his coaches and team to develop chemistry or proper conditioning.

It's looking like it'll take a minor miracle for him to stay healthy, but if that happens holy crap he's going to be special.

If I was the sixers I would have delayed the contract extension played him without any restriction this season (not giving any **** about threatening his career) and get rid of him if his body can't support that

I don't think he has any utility going forward if he can't train play b2b and has to sit a full week if playing an OT

If you're goal is championships, do you really need a player who can play B2B's?

I agree about the contract, though.

It sounds like you’ve watched 0 Raps games, don’t like the stats you’ve seen and so it’s lol variance.

He’s better at 3pt shooting cause he spent the last 2 summers training it non stop. He’s taking way more threes because of this. Of course it’s just luck they’ve gone in. And we’ll just gloss over his improved passing and shot selection as variance too I suppose. Even tho it means he’s clearly trying to be less like Kobe.

If your argument is he still can’t beat Lebron then why even watch the regular season?

The point is he's improved to no longer actively harming his team, not to however good you think he is

I know you think this one stat is a real gotcha! But they have the 3rd highest point differential and one of the best benches in the league. All you’re proving is they’ve been very good with him off the floor. They’ve also been very good with him on the floor.

You know there's 2 sides of the court right? He's a great scorer, very good on offense, and trash on defense. That doesn't sum up to what you think it does, and the STATS reflect that. He's consistently had a negative effect on his team throughout his career, that's not what very good players do. He's playing like a top 50 player this year but remember that's still closer to top 200 than top 5.

To further expound on Thay3r, he's a great scorer in an era where great scoring is not the most vital trait to have. I think the reasons why his +- numbers have been so meh his career are that he takes away so much from the rest of the team when he's doing his great scoring. There are a lot of other players who are similar, but DDR might be the poster-child.

All I said was he improved (with reasons why) and that this is the best Raps team ever. You then told me it’s variance but also he has improved just not as much as I think?!

I didn’t say he was top 5 altho top 50 is obv just antagonistic. I’m saying he’s improving at a better rate than most players his age and it’s really fun to watch.

He's also playing the best defense of his career this year and individual advanced defensive stats are very flawed

This is one of my main points for why he’s improved. He’s taking less long 2s that can’t be rebounded and he’s passing out of penetration and bad shots much better. He had 8 assists when he dropped 52. He’s also stretching the floor more with the 3pt threat.

Don't forget he only had 2 turnovers as well, the low turnover rate is glossed over by Derozan haters all the time.

Yeah I'm not doubting that he's improved. I just think it's a tad early to say he's an elite or even great player given what we've seen in the past.
