You realize the next 4 drafts don't all happen at the end of this year right?

Yeah I mean I'm not sure what people expect. Pretty much all the NBA deadlines go like this. One big move and then a bunch of meh random inconsequential moves.

Think everyone got spoiled by that one year where **** went completely crazy not too long ago. Most NBA deadlines are like this one, not that one.

Yeah I suspect that is case. His value expired for mavs when trade deadline passed. It was probably a mutually agreed upon decision as he is not a part of the future and he can go somewhere else.

I feel like they could have gotten at least six second rounders from philly for him, though.

Wizards should just get Barnes/Bogut/D Will/T Jones and have a bench.

Ainge has a history of being a terrible draft guy and he's been saying the same thing for 4 seasons. He even said a a few years back he'd be shocked if he made all these draft picks and didn't trade any of them for a star. At some point you have to take a shot and see what happens. I don't want to be like Phil and just keep drafting guys only to trade them for garbage a few years later because they are limited by roster size

Keep in mind former tzer IrishHand is also in Philly's front office now.

Yup. Good call.

The more convoluted the cba, the more bs like this happens.

Elect libertarian candidate KC and his FlatCap platform in the next commissioner election.

Yea I get why they released him after the deadline. But they definitely could have got a second rounder for him, so I figured he must have vetoed some trades.

I'm fine with it. When you insist on "doing something", you end up overpaying.

i think it's a mistake to assume that such ppl are being heard by the decision-makers, especially if the evidence points to the contrary

in the NHL, for example, it seems like analytics folks are being ignored for the most part, except where their conclusions back up the opinions of their dumbass bosses

Probably need the roster spot for Boogie's caddie.
02-23-2017 , 04:48 PM
IrishHand worked for Colangelo in Toronto.

But yeah I doubt he has significant pull on deadline deals.

My guess is they were doing him a solid.

huge fail to not trade okafor.

I understand the Noel trade, but it seems like a puke move to me. If they decided they don't want to toss 70M at him this offseason, might as well get something for him. Somebody is gonna toss money at him - Mozgov just got 65M. Noah got 80M. Front offices are dumb.

Like seriously is TJones the most underappreciated underrated guy in the NBA right now? Anytime he gets minutes he seems to crush and he's been on a lot of ****ty teams that simply don't give him minutes for whatever reason. If actually gets waived will certainly land somewhere much better for him.
02-23-2017 , 04:54 PM
man colangelo is a gigantic dumbass for not dealing okafor.

good ****ing lord. Embiid/Saric/Simmons is the future. How can you get rid of the two positive players (Ilyasova and Noel) and leave the cancer? I understand they're FAs, but still.
02-23-2017 , 04:58 PM
I think keeping okafor is fine. Embiid probably plays less than half the remaining games, with no Noel okafor is perfect. Let him start games, put up numbers and increase his trade value, and also subtly tank ad well because he's actually not that good.

I think his value last summer was probably decent, before embiid and Noel and injuries killed it. If you can rehab his value to that point it's a massive win and trade him in the summer.

Worst case scenario you have a solid backup C on a good contract with potential to improve

While I'm not near as high on JO as I once was - I think many here are totally burying him way too quick. He still ends up being very usable some of the time.

Trade deadline rankings :

1. Pelicans
2. Raptors
29. Kings
30. Sixers

So sickening. Nerlens is pretty much as good as Embiid right now.

He's an okay bench guy, don't think he's much more than that. The Pelicans writers all seem to be of the belief that he was granted a release so he could go somewhere and get some more PT.

Lol Hinkie slappies. Him getting fired after a few horrendous years and then some tall, square-jawed, elite suit-wearer and handshaker like colangelo coming in and ruining it was always part of why the process is was and always will be lol.

All playing Okafor does is expose how trash he is and drive his value down. It's getting undersold how bad he actually is.
