and yes, this is a cool clip
cliffs on the rest? first 3 mins was just super total standard interview nonspeak

Just a lot of cool insight into how much he thinks about how to best create for his teammates (whether they like the ball high or low, how they like the ball when they catch it, etc) which in turn makes him more enjoyable to watch bc he's always making this circus passes to create 3's for teammates and putting the ball right where they want it.

At what point can you advance the ball with a timeout? Is it only 4th quarter?
01-10-2017 , 09:43 PM
4 Jimmy Butler
4 Paul George
3 Giannis
2 Gordon Hayward
2 Gobert

I think the strategy with these teams has to be to have no true PG in order to create a mismatch for whomever is guarded by Steph. I found the headshots annoying, so I didn't spend much time figuring out if there are any good $1 players. If you can find a good $1 center then you can use them over Gobert and go up from Butler/PG to Kawhi. If you can find a good $1 wing then you can use them with Lebron/Giannis/Gordon/Gobert. I see people have mentioned George Hill and I am normally a huge fan of him, but I think Steph can guard him fine and I'd really want to exploit Steph on D in this hypothetical.

aldridge pricings bad, but doesn't even make my lowball team

4 whiteside (C)
4 carmelo (SF) (really wanted to go derozan here - suck it canada)
3 nowitzki (PF)
3 wade (SG)
1 rondo (PG)
01-10-2017 , 10:26 PM
Jokic
LBJ
Kawhi
KCP
George Hill

Creation from your bigs, guys who finish, and two guys who make Steph quiver.

Most entertaining team imo.

Gobert does damage to the Warriors offense. They like to score layups and they can't take the shots when he's in the game. He can relax by the rim in an always switch defense. His offense is also good and a nice fit with high scorers.

That graphic is actually the second step of the process. The first was that it cost $5 to put WIL Katie on the Woyas.

would guess that all players in the league but the completely braindead do this, whether they know it or not

Avery Bradley - 1
Harden - 5
Paul George - 4
Giannis - 3
Gobert - 2

how much would the warriors cost in that scenario?

$6-Durant, Curry
$4-Klay, Dray
$1-Zaza

Feels like $21 to me.

Call Curry a $5 guy and give me $20.

Bron-7
Kiwi-5
PG-4
Giannis-2
Hayward-2

Third team with the Jokic-LBJ-Butler-KCP-Hill "base" with $1 to spend. You went Butler to Kawhi, I went Jokic to Gobert, Mullen went George Hill to Conley. Hard to tell which upgrade is biggest.

EDIT: For completion might as well add one final option of upgrading KCP: Hill-Butler-Hayward-Lebron-Jokic

I went with George Hills after reading he's the best at betting around screens, which I think is needed with steph/draymond. I feel that jokics offense and the rest of my teams ability to finish is offensive nirvana. Defensively I think Goberts strengths are mitigated somewhat by the fact that GSW can just start taking 30 footers.

Plus Jokic is sexy to watch.

1$ Batum certainly has value as a PG against Steph, the only thing he's really good at on defense is defending smaller guys

Batum 1
Lebron 7
Gordon 2
giannis 3
Gobert 2

I was waiting patiently for the interesting part but it was all pretty vanilla. I want my five minutes back.

I definitely appreciate how great of a passer lebron (especially in the important moments) is and the nuances involved in his passing game. However, I knew that before watching the clip.

Yea, he really didn't say anything beyond some guys like to get the ball high and others like it low. Great that he knows where 4 or 5 guys like it after practicing with them every day for 2 years. The amazing mind blowing part is that he can internalize that info, and make the right pass in a split second in a game situation. Not ragging on his great basketball mind, but that interview wasn't very engaging.

idk how, but James Johnson became pretty good this year at age 30.

17/7/4 per 36 on 49 percent from 2 and 38 from 3. trending up this last week, capped off by a big dunk on steph and a pretty finish around the rim.

I heard Nate Duncan referring to him the other day as one of the few players in the league that'd be possible/make sense to trade for if you're Cleveland.

He's basically one of the only guys that can shoot+defend reasonably+isn't making much money (4M). Also would make sense for Miami since he's on an expiring contract about to hit 30 and they're rebuilding so I'm sure they'd not mind trading him for any kind of asset.

i know his defensive rep, but it just looks like he's running extremely well from 3?
01-11-2017 , 05:52 PM
Sounds like a perfect R-Jeff replacement when he retires.

This. His FT% hasn't improved from his career .700 rate - which makes it much more likely he's just run a bit hot than he learned to shoot at 30. The difference between his career .300 and this season is about 10 more made shots - not enough that I'd want to rely on him in the playoffs.

James Johnson is a fine shooter and is definitely a +ev option on open 3s. It's not like we're looking at 10 years of data in the typical sense, it's 350 attempts on limited minutes on 5 different teams.
