NBA Season Thread 2014-15 NBA Season Thread 2014-15

lol

Yeah that's not hard to understand. Seth, interesting though, haven't seen it displayed out like that before.

Surprised by the left/rightness of a few teams. Suns warriors and pacers in particular. LeBron just so amazing
10-26-2014 , 06:40 PM
pacers makes a lot of sense considering how the ball stopped moving after the first 1/3rd of the year.

i expected the spurs to be further to the right on the axis though.
10-26-2014 , 06:55 PM
Expected Rip City to be higher vertically, but I guess all those LMA 18 footers take their toll.

Not a regular here, but two threads seems like the best of both worlds. If after a month the gameday thread needs to be reset, then do monthly. If it's clearly bad at that point, nix it.

Would be interesting to see how that EFG chart changes as the season goes along. Cool graphic.
10-26-2014 , 07:02 PM
So, left to right is just the gap between EFG on assisted vs. unassisted shots. Overall NBA average was about 15%, highest (GSW) was just over 20%, lowest (Suns) was 10.8%. You can play with the whole league here: http://cf.datawrapper.de/kNsPH/2/

Chart would look somewhat different if vertical axis was TS or Ortg because of FTs (which would help Minny) and ORebs (Portland), but the public data for "FT assists" is not great (roughly 70% of and 1s appear to be counted as "assisted" but only about 1/5 total shooting fouls which doesn't at all comport with observation) and I wanted to compare apples to apples.

(yes I know I misspelled it, DGAF atm)
Please update monthly

I'm gonna laugh when "gameday" thread turns into TZ and "TZ" is a ghost town
10-26-2014 , 07:20 PM
I'll laugh too because the whole word will be upside down
10-26-2014 , 07:39 PM
I'm hoping Fat Boris will get an all-star nod this year. Also Kawhi obv
10-26-2014 , 09:39 PM
Labeling even one axis would help that chart a lot.

who gives a **** about an oxford comma?

separate the season thread from games. One big game day thread is the best idea IMO, but I'm cool with daily, weekly, monthly too.

Lettuce NBA.

Perhaps we'll have the greatest season since Jordan's Bulls.

Really excited to see NY, GS and CLE for obvious reasons

JETTO HAS RETURNED

I'm gonna enjoy the Knicks botching the triangle.

Maybe Melo can go for 70+ in a game.

I've never been more excited for the NBA than this year.

Looking forward to watching several hundred games again.

GO HORNETS

Nah, lost too many coin flips this summer for that to happen. If the following had happened instead, then maybe:

PG hadn't gotten injured and Indy paid Lance to stay
KD hadn't gotten injured and Nash had hired Perkins to carry his bags
Melo to Chicago
Gasol to Cleveland
Love to Golden State
Bosh to Houston
Deng to Atlanta
Lin to NYC
Smoove to Kings

Agree with top 2, the rest I don't care either way about.

Will really miss George. And, well, Durant if it's worse than we think. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to Westbrook being the lead man for half a season.

Knicks are actually one of the least interesting teams in the league this year. Aging star, no upside, no future. Only the Nets might be less interesting.

God damn please no. Would much rather have Felton than Barea at this point. And they better not cut Mekel for him. Mavs prob don't beat the heat without him in '11, but don't pick him up for nostalgia purposes please mark

NYK run the offense more than GS, GS mixes it up quite a bit so far from what ive seen

You could get lucky and they cut Charlie V instead.
