I think a partial season rental of Pau is interesting but don't expect McDonough to give up much for him. Maybe the Pacers pick and Okafor. with the Suns track record of reviving players, give it a go for half a season and see how he is. Any old player on the decline should hope to be sent to Phoenix.

They aren't winning anything with or without Gasol so no point giving up something to get him.

Any GM giving up a first or a prospect for Pau in a deal that isn't a big salary dump should be fired instantly

Houston gets a fringe lotto pick and sheds 10m next year. Boston has a huge hole at C, and isn't really in a place to sign anyone in the coming FA pool due to Crash's ominous contract. Lee has fringe value to Morey, as he was a Rocket and understands the system, and is at least playable for depth there.
I actually rather like this proposition, though a few of my Celtics-fan friends weren't big fans of giving up any picks or taking on Asik's contract.

Why do they need a center? They're not built to win games now, so there's very little reason to trade away tangible assets for a 33 year old big man shooting 42% from the field. Plumlee has been a pleasant surprise, and they have Len too (and Frye).

And he expires at the end of the season (and I can't see the Suns paying him what he wants next year), so unless he gets healthier/more interested/less sucky sometime between now and tomorrow, I don't see the big upside.

Weird, Dame was 1/10 from the field last night but had a best in the game +/- of 20

He plays a lot with Aldridge.

They want a center. Emeka and Gasol are both expiring centers with big contracts. Gasol is owed 5 mil more next year, but he can also play now. Potentially much better than Okafor ever could depending on his exact health.

Lakers don't need a lot back, but with their injuries they need somebody to take some minutes. Not sure how much posters are valuing Archie - he hasn't seemed very good and Suns may want to trade him to take less salary. Lakers take him because they have so many injuries and fringe upside potential.

What is it that Phoenix is giving up? Its not a trade with big upside, but its a trade with some upside for both teams, and affords them both greater flexibility for the next 2 years.

Pau gasol is pure trash I can only hope he doesn't end up on the suns and ruin them

Can you quote where they've said they want a center? I'm a little dubious about that.

You seem to be overvaluing Pau's ability to play now too, I'm not sure why the Suns would want to limit Plumlee's minutes for no extra deep-playoff-run equity (and quite likely no extra playoff equity). Really it seems like just making a trade for the sake of making a trade - Suns probably have more utility in keeping Okafor and potentially flipping him for a more valuable platter of assets, and while neither a 2nd round pick nor Goodwin seem like great assets, they both have a better chance at being relevant for the Suns down the track than Pau (let's not forget Goodwin is 14 years younger than Pau).

Is there a player in NBA history worse than John Salmons who have played so many years and minutes? How is this guy still in the league.

Just saw a trade rumor saying the Suns are willing to trade 2014 picks for an "established star"....

Melo?

Maybe a package deal with the Bulls, Deng, Boozer, Gibson?

Kevin Love?

Trying to think of other stars available?
12-13-2013 , 08:36 PM
Love is borderline star, lol at those others
12-13-2013 , 08:37 PM
Sixers are outtanking the **** out of the RAPS
12-13-2013 , 08:37 PM
Why would a team trade a star for a draft pick knowing that the star would make it a bad draft pick?

And lol at Love being borderline
12-13-2013 , 08:38 PM
Not that Pau really moves the needle, but why would Phoenix trade for a player who at best hurts their chances of attaining lottery picks? The only way I see anyone trading for Pau right now is if it's a salary dump with a few players thrown in.
12-13-2013 , 08:42 PM
Really I know it's the Lakers and all, but Pau sucks and shouldn't even be news that he's not happy there. About the only player they could get for him is Amare.
12-13-2013 , 08:42 PM
This Patterson/Salmons/Vasquez lineup is incredible for the tank.
12-13-2013 , 08:43 PM
I'm not saying i agree with the statement. Just saw the article online and thought it was a bit ridiculous. I think the suns have 4 first round picks and in this draft they are alst guaranteed to lands very solid player.

And K Love is a star
12-13-2013 , 08:44 PM
yeah when he's not injured
12-13-2013 , 08:46 PM
There's even a blooper reel of that hilariously awful ROLO/LMA car commercial:

12-13-2013 , 08:46 PM
Sullinger is destroying Bargnani
12-13-2013 , 08:49 PM
Thundaaaaaaaa

Why is this game at 7 CST and not 8? ESPN double header tonight?
