yeah, this is what I was thinking. there's that precedent for him to fully buy into an off-ball role and be really good at it. obv he probably plays a slightly more involved role in the offense in Miami, but you don't take the vet min to join Labron if your plan is to jack up a bunch of midrangers (or, if it's cheating to factor the vet min in, you don't join Labron in general).

Wasn't being hyperbolic at all. Sometimes you need to consider possibilities that seem superficially absurd to expand your mental horizons. This is IMO a good time for that since Melo in Miami is a legit WOAT fit.

Don't think anybody is doing themselves a favor by instantly assuming that he must be an upgrade because he's Melo and he drops a 24 PER and makes all-star games.

I'd say the absolute max confidence that anybody should feel that say Rio/Wade/LeBron/Shard/Bosh is < Rio/Wade/Lebron/Melo/Bosh is 90% (I know this shifts the goalposts a bit but w/e). If you don't allow for like a 10% chance that it goes far more horribly that anybody expected your doing it wrong. Feel like most people are treating it as a 99%+ lock.

Seems like Heat need to modify their lineup a little. Wade can play in crunch time but there seems to be a need for a Danny Green (Battier from a few years ago) type who can bomb 3s and play D in the Heat starting lineup with Melo/Bron/Bosh.

By "how good" I mostly mean how well he played the role tactically: staying off-ball as a floor spacer and shooting open 3s with a quick trigger. Similarly regarding "narrative," don't mean it in the ESPN devoid-of-meaning sense, just mean that tactical element was something people were watching for and discussing.

That's essentially what he did on the Olympic team. His offense was unleashed a bit disproportionately b/c other guys could key in more on defense.

I don't imagine he'd be the central focus on offense all the time but it seems to me lebron wouldn't have to save himself the way he has this last year by playing at a much lower level defensively. This assumes Wade could play D if it was his main focus. I'm not convinced he can't, he just doesn't b/c he is still a very important offensive cog.
