Kobe + another star actually getting along. Who would fit that criteria?

It was dumb not to give Love 5 years. But he had only been not fat for like 5 games before they had to resign him. I personally figured he was a lock to sign and then refat.
i think the reason why love *might* re-sign with the celtics is bc they are a smart, well coached team. if they convince him they are on the fast track to building a contender around him, i could see him being the type to buy into that. they have enough assets to deal for love and additional talent to boot. if they go on a massive trading spree and emerge with a rondo/avery/hayward/love/asik starting 5, brad can coach that team to 50+ wins in the east.

of course he might also want nothing to do with a cold city that isn't quite ready to start crushing souls. but it's possible that they can sway him.

Well, Gasol seems like a pretty obvious answer

I can't see how the money can match for a Warriors trade unless one of Lee, Bogut, Iggy is involved.

Man. A bulls team with love Noah and a potentially healthy rose would be so amazing.

looking at the rumour mill, the following teams are reported to be most active/interested: woyas, suns, celtics, lakers. all have their own obstacles to getting a deal done, but from the wolves perspective phx has the most attractive assets (4 1st round picks this yr + some decent rookie contracts). from love's perspective i'd imagine the woyas are an attractive option due to location + team strength, they could offer something like klay + dray, which gives them a pretty ultraelite #1 lineup of curry-? I think Kobe and LeBron could find a way to cordially co-exist on/off court.

Are teams allowed to trade for Love conditional on him signing an extension?

KLove and Steph would form the new and improved Splash Bros.

I did some reading on trade exceptions.

The creative option for the Warriors is their trade exception from R Jeff. They can use it to take back any salaries the Wolves (or a third partner) would like to dump for nothing that are less than 9.875M + 100k/player. The Wolves would get under the cap and would get their own trade exceptions in the amount of the players they give up. They still have to independently match salaries to take on Love.
