Agreed but with SA playing lights out you have to say the race in the West is better also.

As a Mavs fan who has been waiting a decade for the second superstar to come our way, I strongly disagree. I'd rather build around two superstars and nothing else than around one superstar and a bunch of solid assets. The problem is that the Knicks are targeting Melo instead of an actual superstar. If a team had CP3, HGH, and nothing else, I think just about every team in the league would happily trade places with them.

You speak the truth sir.

I salute you.

Take CP3, HGH, add a few shooters and a scrappy defender and you're going to seriously compete.

Take Amare, Melo, Fields, etc. and maybe you'll win 55 games but good luck even getting to the Finals.

Well yeah but you have selection bias for that kind of thinking, obviously. For reasons already discussed 100 times Carmelo isn't the greatest fit stylistically and honestly I don't see why extending Chandler for 35% of Carmelo's price tag for 80% of his production isn't the obvious play.

The Knicks are still really YOUNG too, Gallo only 22 in his 2nd full year can certainly get tons better and if 2012 comes around and he's flattened out development wise you can just renounce HIM if you absolutely had to and max out HGH or CP3 still. If Carmelo is proving anything by this ridiculous ego-stroke-fest it's that max money is all that drives guys (as well it should) or he'd just do the thing most people agree is prudent and sign in the offseason with a non-gutted team.

question: what two legit superstars would fit the worst itl, barring those that play the same position

yeah that's where it gets tricky, i guess you can just make a sum of the parts < whole judgement depending on how good the players in question are

what's with the underrating of melo these days?

i mean its not like any1 thinks hes a top 10 player right? but hes really ****ing good and i think chauncy/landry/melo/amare/turiaf with douglas/shawne/mozgov coming off the bench is a pretty tough team to beat

As far as who's going to end up with the best record in the West you're obv right. That wasn't what I was referring to though. I was referring to who represents the West in the NBA finals. I still think that is very much in question.

that team sounds like it would be really good to me but i def duno what i'm talking about. i remember lot of celtic fans complaining about giving up too much (al jefferson and ??) for old ass players in kg+ra. this was definitely a big debate at the time. not that the melo situation is the same...

how much better is fields than afflalo? they're similar players yea? (I'm asking)

is amare / turiaf better than nene / kenyon martin's corpse? this seems absurdly lateral to me. if they get to keep chandler / gallo, then meh, i guess they're a little better? mebbe not tho, jr smith / lawson have their moments off the bench as is

Celtics get Melo one time. Also, is there a site that shows cap details etc.
02-21-2011 , 06:33 AM
Well, if this happens it would be sweet.
02-21-2011 , 06:34 AM
Deron, Melo and Amare..... Jesus.

This is one scenario where I would give up Landry Fields.

Odds of this happening are what 5%?

I would agree/be fine with giving up Fields here as well. Seems like a pipe dream though.

Don't know if we've touched on it yet, but Kobe winning ASG MVP is probably the worst thing ever to happen to the basketball media/casual fan in a long time. I am now going to have to hear from all my irl friends once again tell me how Kobe is GOAT and the best player in the league. adfjskfldjaieau;iofjk;lasjfkljviofja; TRY HARDER AND CHUCK MORE IN AN EXHIBITION GAME YOU STUPID OVERRATED ******.

Sort by All-Star MVP's Kobe Bryant now tied for greatest player ever with Bob Pettit.
