Yeah in fairness most of my opinion has been from the playoffs/beginning of the year where he's seemed like he's lost a step and just not been quick enough.
03-16-2011 , 01:44 PM
Artests d has looked pretty stifling as of late imo. He's still got juice left in the tank.
03-16-2011 , 01:49 PM
Artest will be great in the playoffs defensively.

as long as he doesn't have to guard lebron..
03-16-2011 , 01:51 PM
artest went from not belonging in the nba before the break to a real disruptive force out there. think possibly he is on something but more likely just got healthy rested and is focused. oh and just read jetto but he is right vs lebron, thing is you can see lebron really is aggressive vs artest he's sees this heralded veteran all down in his stance really trying and lebron wants to show how small and helpless he is vs him.

Other guys I considered: Okafor, Gasol (great vs 4s), Pierce, Gay, Thabo, Bynum (not enough PT), Kobe, Barnes (not enough PT, he's better than Ron at both sides at this point), Manu.
Grant Hill has been shutting people down all season. Though I'm probably overrating him because it looks like his defense is so awesome because the rest of his team is so terrible at it.

i'd like to see your list of 10
03-16-2011 , 02:27 PM
Iggy Allen LBJ Wade Thaddeus Gay Harden Deng Brewer Pierce Pietrus Chandler Vince Kobe?
03-16-2011 , 02:29 PM
What do you guys think of Vince? His advanced stuff look sick but I mean it's Bitch Carter
03-16-2011 , 02:31 PM
Batum Matthews Thabo Manu

possibly Marion
03-16-2011 , 02:37 PM
Pietrus' defense really is not good
03-16-2011 , 02:38 PM
Batum confirmed awful at D this year per $ecret $tat$ and whatever that one linked article was.
03-16-2011 , 02:39 PM
tony allen has no body fat these days so ripped. If had to stop a team or die, put allen on the pg he is tougher to shoot over and confident he can stop penetration plus got some good help... wade on the 2, lebron on the 3, kg, and dwight.
03-16-2011 , 02:40 PM
I spaced on labron in the honorable mentions. I def looked at his $tats and considered him. I just don't think he's as good as Deng or Iggy this year.
03-16-2011 , 02:51 PM
i always love when ppl say "advanced stats" like they are really good stats when most of them are trash/super flawed. really the only ones that are really good at measuring what they are supposed to are the percentage ones aka TS%, eFG%, and TRB% (ORB% and DRB% too obv)

think i posted this a few days ago, I'm really surprised at how bad he is, a lot of announcers keep saying he's an elite defender, when imo, he's ****ing terrible

The suns have three really good defenders in Hill, Gortat, and Dudley, two slightly above average ones in Childress and Frye, one average one in Nash (everyone lol), and everyone else is really bad
03-16-2011 , 02:54 PM
Appreciate your opinion as always Joshua.
03-16-2011 , 02:56 PM
Dwight
KG
TA
GHill
CP3

Chandler
Marion
Batum
Thabo
some PG i'm forgetting (deron?)
03-16-2011 , 02:59 PM
rondo?

in other words, buckets >>> belinelli

Haven't watched enough of Iggy, although it's easy to believe he's been better. I'd take him over Deng though and it's a no brainer to take him over Wade/Rose. Even if he officially doesn't play PG/SG he always defends the other teams best outside player, independently of position

I heard JVG giving Grant Hill a nod for DPOY, which is insane. Grant is an above average defender on a terrible defensive team, I'll give him that, but he doesn't deserve to be on an All-D list. I made one last week and I'm slightly tinkering it, but here is my team:

1st team:
Dwight (C) KG/LBJ (F) Pierce/Luol Deng (G)

2nd team:
Duncan (C) Pau/Artest (F) Wade/Ronnie Brewer(G)

*I know Pierce and Deng are SFs, but I'm squeezing them from "Wing" to "Guard" since they can and do sometimes guard SGs, obv. Both waaaay deserve it over any PG, AINEC

IF THERE WAS A 3rd TEAM/HONORABLE MENTION:
Bogut (C) AK47/Iggy (F) Rondo/Kobe (G)

Others garnering votes...
Keyon Dooling, Andrei Kirilenko, Lamar Odom, Jodie Meeks, Gerald Wallace, Varejao, Emeka Okafor, and Kurt Thomas

Ya he really has stepped it up lately tho

He guarded labron well in their most recent matchup for example
03-16-2011 , 03:13 PM
so you'll squeeze pierce to sg but not lebron

how can you have both batum and wes matthews on an all defensive team, when the blazers are only 15th in defense - and they have camby, who is still a great defender.

thabo and manu have been quite good too, tho
