For instance, I love how much Skeets gets in to the NBA and how passionate he is about talking about it, but it was always Melas I kind of nodded in agreement with when they argued about something, but lately I think Skeets has been more on point and Melas has been generating some "WAT" replies

Not the issue. I've maintained all along that there is a lot of quality basketball discussion and responses in these forums and this thread specifically. My objection has never had to do with the lack of replies - rather that the periodic abundance of irrelevant/OT replies both stifles basketball conversation and turns off legit basketball fans who might otherwise be involved in the conversation but for that irrelevant/OT stuff.

Don't know what the animosity is about.
What animosity?

This is the first day since I can remember OT stuff got a little out of control since the regular season started, so if 3 hours mid-day really gets to you, then yeah you should probably just let it go.
If you say so - today's the first day since the season started (I think) that I've actually posted something substantive and reloaded the thread shortly afterwards to continue the conversation, if you will.

Quote:
Also, I asked questions in response to your thoughts (as I usually do) and you chose to comment on the OT discussion instead
Umm...this is my point. I posted, did some things, checked back like an hour later and the bulk of the last hundred plus posts were OT. I don't have the time to fish through that volume of OT stuff for replies to my post or to see if any other basketball-related topics had come up. Again, hence the disappointment.

I don't expect (or even want) my topic to be the topic-du-jour...I just want basketball. *shrug*

Be nice to IrishHand, he's already saddled with the burden of being Canadian.

Don't get me wrong - given the extent that the mods are wholeheartedly participating and encouraging the OT stuff, I totally get that my "no OT please" perspective is not the policy or even encouraged. As I've said all along, I am grudgingly resigned to a repeat of the past few seasons (for me, that is)...doesn't mean I'm not sad/disappointed by it.

I missed a Hawk (Terry) on the Sporcle, I'm pretty ashamed.

For some reason my brain goes dead when I'm rushing to beat the clock on those things.

Oh and I got 102, I'm horrible at these

The conversations in this thread are like snowballs rolling down the hill. Whatever snowball first gets pushed down the hill everyone basically joins in pushing it. Seems like we really have no control over what snowball that will be, or whether its OT or basketball related. I guess, just deal with it? I dunno.

i mean, the movie conversation is kinda annoying but no one is forcing me to read it and take part. in 3 hrs theres gonna be a bunch of games and we can go back to kneejerk reactions and jokes about BASKETBALL.

whining about ot conversation while fishing for ppl to beg you to stay is far more pathetic.
