A couple of fun notes:

- This may be a rare occurrence where I have CP3 over Kobe and Bobbo has Kobe over CP3. They're real close, and both beasting right now, but CP3 gets the nod. The real MVP, however, is Raptor Christ Bosh.

- D-Wade and RonRon have had very similar impacts so far (on obviously different usages), with Wade slightly ahead. Both have been around a wash offensively, but with massive defensive value.

- Derek Fisher is not now, nor ever was, killing the Lakers. Injuries to their bigs, DooM, and the bench are the culprits for their atrocious 6-1 start.

- Good thing the Spurs don't start really playing until the rodeo trip.....amirite?

- Awesome post, Bobbo.

Wow. Are you looking at the MVP race through Raptor vision or are you serious?
About Kobe vs CP3, this is probably the first time this has ever happened. (Possibly the last, too) I mean, for the rest of the year (in general) the Lakers will be seen as an elite team in terms of supporting cast, but at this juncture I think it's pretty true that THUS FAR the Lakers, who do NOT deserve to be 6-1, ARE 6-1 BECAUSE of Kobe. As in, his cast has actually been pretty bad. (No Gasol; a limited Bynum; PG play has been AWFUL - Artest has been a negative offensively, etc.)

wait, how has DWade been wash offensively? I must be missing something! He has a 112 ORtg using 34.8% of his team's possessions, while playing about 80% possible minutes. Or, in a nutshell, he's used about 27.7% of his team's possessions - the heat as a team have put up a 107.2 ORtg, which means *roughly* it's like:
Code:
With/Without Team ORtg - %Poss
The Miami Heat - 107.2 - 100%
Dwyane Wade - 112.0 - 27.7%
Non-Wade Heat - 105.4 - 76.2%
112 * .277 + X * .723 = 107.2
31 + .723X = 107.2
.723X = 76.2
X = 105.4

in other words the Heat would be muuuuuch worse offensively without Wade. Artest, on the other hand, has a 104 ORtg; the Lakers have a team rating of 108.1, so he's actually bringing them down a bit.

Obviously Artest has been great defensively thus far, but the Lakers haven't been nearly as strong defensively as the Heat. A lot of that has to do with limited Bynum and no Pau, but I think a lot of credit goes to Wade and rejuvenated JON.

heh, I don't think Fisher is "killing" the Lakers. But he's not helping things. Look Keith, a 0-0-0-0-0-0-0-2 line could be an OK thing, but it's NEVER a helpful thing.

I also love the fact it's a tongue-in-cheek "atrocious 6-1 start". I guess then you would respond to the "pyth bullet" q with a "never"?

His team, JON in particular, has played well around him, (some might say unsustainably so), but he hasn't shot particularly well himself. I overstated the similarity with Artest a bit, mostly to draw attention to the defensive value. They've both been valuable defenders, and when their shooting numbers come back, the offensive side will be represented as well (RonRon clearly not in the same tier as Wade, but still a good player).

Eh, 24 minutes of playing solid veteran defense and otherwise not being named Jordan Farmar is worth something.

You're being out-leveled. You have to consider pyth pyth.

I mean I know Fisher holds his own on defense blah blah, but is it possible to be much worse offensively as an NBA starter?

He's making Desmond Mason look good

*When that video came out I thought Shakira was the hottest woman alive. She's still up there but man I was entranced.

Bittersweet Symphony the dude is just an epic baller. Always thought the idea behind the video was so cool.

The Scientist has an actual sad, compelling video that always connected to the song.

I like the new SNL cast, tivo it every week and a lot of it is actually watchable lately, but Andy Samberg is the best.

Has anyone seen this yet?
