These playoffs are shaping up to be pretty epic. Getting excited.

Apparently he has lost a good amount of weight while off. Hopefully Mike Brown only uses him when we need him(Mainly ORL/LAL), not against teams that it hurts us
My guess is they'll play Shaq a little in their 1st round series to get him back into it, bump it up a little for the 2nd round, and have him ready to go all out for conf/nba finals.

also, if we can find a way to prevent him from putting the ball in the cylinder, that'd be helpful too. I'll inform Nash

Any chance we see a Kobe/Artest/Odom/Bynum/Gasol lineup in the playoffs? It doesn't look like they've used that lineup once this year. I can't think of any reason not to other than trying to fit players into a positional box.

Yeah this is either a massive failure by Phil or him not wanting to use this lineup until the playoffs.

How about Roy/Webster/Batum/xxxxx/xxxxx? Seems like that one could work.

Portland has run Rudy/Roy/Batum/X/X for sure, and may have run some other lineups like that.

Mike Brown said he wouldn't play vs Orlando on Sunday so maybe he'll play in the final game of the season Wednesday vs Atlanta.

For about 40 minutes on the entire year. That number should be a lot higher, imo

the weight loss thing doesn't surprise me at all, i already had bill simmons-like conspiracy theories brewing about this. like shaq faked the injury to give his body a chance to recover and to get into shape, leading to an awesome playoff performance + 5th ring (fu kobe)

The other lineup that sticks out as not being used (ever afaict) is Wade/QRich/Beasley/Haslem/JON. They have used a couple lineups with Cook replacing Beasley and Magloire with JON, but only for a couple minutes on the year.

You won't get any arguments from me there. Good to see they're at least trying it though.

For Miami I'd prefer a Wade/QRich/Wright/Beasley/O'neal lineup

phil talked about using this lineup before the season even started so he's obviously aware of it. i'm sure he has his reasons for not trying it out. just like he had his reasons for playing fish last year when everyone was questioning him - look how that turned out!

i am still alive. just engrossed with classes, fantasy baseball and some er.. friends. i was also a little sick of the baseball-esqueness this thread had developed. some of ya'll mother****ers need to learn to be more open minded and not nitty, but that's your problem and not mine.

To be fair to Phil, there are legit reasons for not sporting this lineup - even if we might feel it's their best 5-man unit. Using Odom off the bench allows him the luxury of having two All-Star level posts in the game for the entire game. If he used Odom at SF and shifted Kobe and Artest to the G spots, he'd be forced to use some very weak post reserves. By using Fish at the 1 (and he's massively underrated itt imo), Phil effectively shifts a bunch of bench minutes from Powell/MBenga to his peripheral wings (Fish/Farmar/SBrown).

It's not like the big 5 aren't getting the most MPG - minutes that'll go up a bit in the playoffs imo.
