Portland's failure to sign him this past offseason is the reason I had to adjust my mancrush on Pritchard.
Having Odom over Bosh or Dirk in any scenario is pretty crazy. Accepting a tertiary role is more useful when comparing him to other guys not capable of handling a main role at a high enough level. Also I'm pretty sure Dirk/Bosh's defense would improve greatly when they are carrying a much lesser offensive role as well.

Yeah I mean that's tough to swallow and kind of makes you want to go "HOMERRRRRRRRRRRRRR" but the argument is legitimate and I understand the idea of wanting complimentary pieces around the elites

Also just wondering ignoring salaries and stuff do you think the lakers should turn down Odom for Dirk?

Neither you nor I know what would happen if Dirk or Bosh was relegated to the role Odom's had on and off in LA (off bench, 20-30 minutes, tertiary role on offense). I just feel like it's a serious and unwarranted leap to assume that any max-salary NBA star would be ok with that role without any evidence to support it. It's not like we're talking about asking Artest to take less shots to accommodate better teammates (the HOU-LAL switch)...we're talking about asking two MVP candidates to accept a Battier role.

I know Odom is highly productive in that role. He's not as good a player as either Dirk or Bosh, but he's more valuable in a Dream Team scenario imo.

I like Klosterman's books. He's a very clever writer, funny, and I don't think he tries to pass his stuff as any more than overthought pot talk (unlike, say, Gladwell). Anyone who subtitles one of their books (which features an extended breakdown of Saved by the Bell) as a "High Treatise on Low Culture" isn't taking themselves that seriously.

I don't really mind his manner of speaking, probably because I also once spent all of my time conversing with people who are stoned out of their ****ing heads. At least Chuck challenges and often outright disregards conventional viewpoints and seeks the why, whereas Simba vomits outs stuff like "You can't do that. The media won't allow it!" Then again, maybe he shouldn't try to establish his own angles because that Tiger/Ali piece was unreadable.

I hated how this game was called. Crawford was way too quick with the Ts when a competitive game threatened to break out and then they would call something goofy like palming to halt any rhythm that was developing. I hate the "we're still here gentlemen" whistles. If two teams are happy to trade baskets, try and dunk on each other, and entertain me, then let them.

The Sixers are such a mess. They didn't look like they've played together before. I have no idea how I'd start unraveling that mess.

Thad Young offered up the worst post defense I've ever seen.

I had a bunch of people over to grill and drink beer before a Red Sox game. Our new neighbors are like, if you've got an implement then we've got weed.

So a bunch of us go next door with the implement. The guy says he bought the weed from someone at a liquor store (the big one on the corner of Harvard and Brighton Ave.) but it got wet so let's see how it goes. This dude who's a friend of a friend take a massive rip and coughs his balls off. We give him **** and do our business.

Fast forward three minutes and massive hit guy is on the kitchen floor having a seizure while ten other people look at each other wondering wtf we just smoked. The guy was in his early 30s and that was his first seizure. He looked like death afterwards. I drank heavily and everyone else ended up being fine. Scary **** though.

That night I relay this story to a friend of mine (bright guy, masters from London School of Economics, pothead). Immediately and seriously he's like, "Dude, that's crazy. So, you got any more of that seizure weed?"

Celtics have a better record on the road than they do at home: 22-10A and 17-11H

Only other teams are Philadelphia (10-19H and 12-20A) and New Jersey (3-28H and 3-27A).

Celtics disproving the theory that the elderly struggle traveling.

Boston's 22-10 is tied for league best with Cleveland.

Boston's home malaise is without explanation.

Post game last night, Boston media syncophants were espousing the theory that Garnett is getting better as the season goes on and that his best ball is still in front of him. I'll believe it when I seem him look like he really cares about the defensive glass.

Waiting for Garnett to reemerge has become akin to Waiting for Godot. This has been going on for over a year.

I'm like the character actor that shows up in independent films.

I'm the Harry Dean Stanton of Threadzilla.

I'm aspiring to reach Philip Seymour Hoffman status.

Which reminds me - Boogie Nights is a great movie.

Or more interestingly imo, 10-man rotation w/ no max players (10M or less) or guys on rookie deals:
Posts: Varejao+Odom
Wings: GeWallace+Artest+JR Smith
Bench: Landry+Nazr+Marion+Battier+Delonte

Wow - harder than I thought to come up with a good roster w/o rooks or big salaries. I suspect that lineup would be the best in the league defensively, and below-average offensively - though I feel there is lots of room for increased usage in that group (Odom, Artest, JR Smith mostly).
lol, just want to point out that irishhand spent the offseason and first couple months ripping on varejao and his contract (and ferry for giving it.)
