NFL and MLB are variance fests but NBA and NHL are not for the most part in the playoffs. MLB b/c of pitching changes and huge variance and NFL b/c of 1 game. NBA and NHL you have all your regulars playing in all the games in a ton of minutes.

Maybe one of the Lakers teams with the Spurs/Kings were so good?

2000-2001?

Lakers will still very good at the time. **** those Kings teams should have won 1 title. Lakers in the Kings "best year" with the joke reffing were only 3 games behind for best record in the league to the Kings (Spurs, Mavs 3 and 4 games behind respectively) and all 4 teams were 5 games+ ahead of the East's best team the Nets who were much, much worse than any of those 4 teams in the West. I'd argue the 1-6 of the West >>> Nets.

Hi guys,

Kobe wanted me to drop off a mid season message. Don't worry....I'll be back for the playoffs.

Teams aren't nearly as strong in the MLB than they are in the NBA.

Last year in the first round the Cavs played the Pistons and had won 27 more games over 82. Last year in the first round of the MLB playoffs the Yankees played the Twins. The difference was 16 games over 162.

They aren't as strong b/c you have to play 162 games and the best pitchers play once every 5 games. If those pitchers pitched every game and there were 5 days between games--the differences would be much greater. Just imagine if Kobe or LBJ could only play once every 5 games. The records between the top teams and the bottom teams would be smaller.

i'll take big shot bob. sick career imo. not hugely famous (that's a plus in my book), make more than enough money, win 7 RANGZZZZ, no pressure/attention if you lose but you get all the attention when you make the big shots. pretty ideal situation.

How much does Amir Johnson make this summer and do the Raptor keep him? (can they?)

What about 'TOINE (can't believe I actually want him back next year)

anatta hamstring still hurts from day one of comeback. shutting it down for the year. give it til 2011. which is good anatta all competitive and angry. contempt for the world and a stranger in it. but a man of faith and wisdom as well as anger and fear. not too much well developed faith and without moral discipline there is no great wisdom. but dont tell anyone.

c's look fine to me man. knicks a fired up team 2 dudes returning house and walker, t-mac, they played hard when nate was out there believe its. no pp. tony allen man. damn just set him down man and keep him there. kg wears out late but that first quarter where c's had like 40 and kg oop dunked and no gimp. ray allen still got it safe to say playoffs he can go off again. it could happen.

Not sure what this discussion is, but this post was at the top of the page and I noticed this.

The Rockets actually had a sub-.500 record after acquiring Dr. Exler mid-season. I don't think it was due to a particular injury, they were the defending champs and started hot but really didn't play particularly well after they got him - possibly something simple like acclimating such a big piece to the team cost them some games - which is why they ended up with the 6th seed or whatever it was.

They won the title for a number of reasons:

- the good fortune of not playing during either of the Bulls runs...more specifically, a Bulls team that played the only season during the run without Horace Grant or Dennis Rodman

- they were actually a pretty good team who probably had some sort of unquantifiable advantage by winning the year previous

- they won the last two games against Utah, including game five on the road

- winning the last three games against PHX, two of them on the road, including OT in game five and by one point in game seven

- H. Olajuwon pozzing the face off of the squeezably soft league MVP in the WCF

- Nick Anderson handing them game one of the finals in what eventually was a sweep...stat nerds can isolate these games in a vacuum all they want but it's fair to believe that if Anderson - up to that point a decent free throw shooter - made one of FOUR attempts needed to close it out that the series would have been much different

So while they were a good team, they had a lot of help, timing, and luck on their side. In their defense though, they beat four legitimate contenders on their way to the title. Utah, PHX, Spurs, and Magic all could very easily have won it all. To come full circle, the only way they really ran "hot" with Dr. Exler is getting him for pennies on the dollar. He didn't really help in the W-L column, at least during the regular season.

Simmons was on Cowherd just now, talked about Tiger a little bit, then Colin asked him about the NBA and who he'd want to take the last shot of the game. Colin said he'd take Kobe over Lebron, and I was thinking "I'd want Melo"

Simmons listed them:

1. Carmelo
2. Kobe
3. Lebron

With a bonus mention to Dirk as "either 1 or 2 before he hurt his elbow."

He mentioned Lebron's ability to get to the line and that he didn't like Wade's shot selection.

Simmons also talked about the Knicks, said they have the best fanbase in the NBA and MSG has the best atmosphere and "if you're a true competitor that's where you want to be."

anatta likes all sorts of porn but girl on girl porn man i was like holy cow from like maybe 15 to 16 and 3 months. after that never got back into it. it would be interesting to see how the genre has changed and no doubt evolved. probably just another denial letter for federal funding coming but its worth a shot.

Just wanted to add that all teams over the cap will have ~$8mil (MLE + bi-annual) to spend. Some f these guys are not really worthy of that much, but will probably get it.
