I wonder if the others allowed Assani the time for his preferred arguing style in person.

Luckily for everyone Hawks are only 22 minutes away. JSmoove is listed as probable, hopefully he plays.

These are games Hawks lose. Back to back on the road versus crappy teams. Thankfully VDN is bad enough to probably not let that happen.

First live game I've watched in a bit. Hopefully Teague continues to shine

Well, you need to consider that I'm a total elitist and think that 99% of fans are casual/low-level.

But he's certainly above average as an analyst.
I disagree, but then again, I rarely read sports analysis that isn't written by someone I think brings more analysis than opinion. Someone who spends several hours figuring out Shaq's skill curve is an analyst. Someone who uses PER to show that Shaq's declining is a color guy with a different label.

The 'casual' fan listens to Jim Rome and Stephan A. Smith and Hollinger has almost definitely forgotten more than either of them know.
I haven't heard a word of Jim Rome since the 90s and I change the channel anytime Smith is speaking or someone suggests he might speak. Rome is entertaining, just not particularly insightful. Stephen A. is garbage.

What blog/writer do you read often?
I read city-specific (online) newspapers if I want info about a specific team or player, and I read a dozen or so stat geek blogs (though most of them post periodically, nowhere near daily.

Hey - if you think Hollinger adds value to your understanding of the game, great. Read, learn, enjoy. I'm all for the accumulation of knowledge.

edit: calling hollinger a color guy is strong. he performs analysis, you just may not agree w/it

Alright, so we've talked about this a few times. I finally have free time, so I'm going to try to arrange it.

NBA Power Rankings
Everyone can have their own specific idea of how they want to rank teams. But, I think we should have a general guideline so we can keep them fairly consistent. Usually, power rankings rank the best teams with some recency bias. I see no reason to deviate from that unless people feel strongly about doing that.

Scoring will be pretty typical. 1st place team in the conference gets 15 points, last place team gets 1 point. I think it will be easier to split up the conferences for accuracy's sake.

I was thinking this could be an every other weekend thing. We can start this weekend. Next rankings would come out in two weekends. You would have from Saturday morning to Sunday at midnight to post or PM your rankings. I will compile and post the overall rankings on Monday.

What does everyone think? I think it could help generate even more discussion, and it might help lurkers participate a little more. If no one objects, I'll start posting mine tonight. Everyone else can follow. I'll compile them and post the first results on Monday.

What the hell were the arguments for Steve Kerr, that he hit a couple big shots?

You know your team has offensive problems when your first priority to start off the game is to get it to Noah on the blocks
