It's just a horrible, horrible train of thought.

Allow me to pull a dschm and say this. WHO CARES ABOUT SOME DONKEY STAT LIKE 35% SHOOTING. ARE YOU EVEN WATCHING THE GAME??? IF ARIZA DOESN'T TAKE A SHOT WHO ELSE IS GONNA TAKE IT ON THAT TEAM? THEY HAVE NO OFFENSE. IF ARIZA CAN GET OFF A DECENT SHOT THEN THAT'S PROBABLY A BETTER POSSESSION THAT THEY WOULD HAVE HAD OTHERWISE.

Now to explain it properly. On a team that has huge issues creating shots, they need someone to step up and try to make something happen. Often times on a team like this, it will lead to a crappy shooting percentage for the main offensive players. Since taking a bad shot is better than a shot clock violation, sometimes players that aren't offensively gifted, such as Ariza, will have to take bad shots. That doesn't mean he's a dumb player. It's often correct for him to take whatever shot he thinks is a good look for him. Otherwise it's going to result in Aaron Brooks driving into 3 people and dishing it to Chuck Hayes or Shane Battier. These guys should never be doing anything besides put backs for Hayes and corner threes for Battier.

Now they have Landry and Scola who are competent, and they get their shots. Ariza is doing very little wrong. He's probably be instructed by his coach to take a lot of shots.
Hm

but seriously, LOLLLLLLLLLLL -- yes I know Ariza does a ton of **** for that team and he just needs to shoot through it and there aren't many offensive options on that team, blah blah-- gtfo, jesus

don nelson is obv horrid at this. i dont watch enoujgh teams to see how they utilize talent. but i gotta give mike brown credit for continuously tinkering while the cavs were kinda floundering early on. since he settled on a lineup the cavs have been awesome in the first half. you can look it up.

of course, he needs to figure out how to make them not suck in the 3rd.

My league pass for my cable system has this and will basically replay each game 3-4 times throughout the night. It is pretty awesome.

Do they cut the games down to 60 minutes though or play it in its entirety?

Oh yeah, I have that too. The cool thing about Knicks in 60 is that they cut the game to like 45 minutes worth of the game, which makes it go a lot quicker.

Anyone who thinks coaches don't make a difference missed avery johnson's last hurrah. He was so incredibly brutal.

If I remember his substitution pattern correctly:
-start game with starters, build a nice 6-9 point lead.
-pull out all 5 starters with 3 minutes left in first quarter, lead dwindles.
-leave all 5 starters out until 6 minutes left in half, lead is now 10 point deficit.
-starters are cold and out of rythm and suck for 4 minutes and the deficit is to 13.
-starters start to play well for the final two minutes and frantically cut the deficit to 6 at halftime.

2nd Half repeat.

This literally happened countless times against contenders during the last season in Dallas.

i wish mb would play lebron to start the 4th. but they have dominated in 4 games with lebron on the bench in that situation. of course, they have got slammed once as well in that spot. i really dont know but it makes me nervous i guess. i like that mo is a really good scorer and very underrated on this board. he can penetrate and dish too.

so pokeromglol, i think that rotations are kinda hard to figure out. mebbe avery wasnt that bad?

LeBron should just play 48 minutes. I mean he's the most elite athlete on the planet, I'm sure he could handle it.

But then he'd screw up his per 36 mins numbers.

But ESPN only pays attention to the per game ones anyway

rotations are tricky, but avery was god awful. Carlisle does this crazy logical thing of "keeping a few scorers on the floor." I specifically remember in the playoffs thinking that Malik Allen jumpshots were our best scoring option.

one thing is that coach shold def find a proper balance. mb tinkers until they have success. if malik allen is the scoring option then ldo they are doing something wrong. i have never even heard of malik allen.

even when the cavs were scrubs plus lebron mb was smart enough to make sure tha flip murray was on teh court when lebron wasnt. flip can fill it up in the poor mans iverson inefficient style but it will work for 4 min every couple games. i like mike brown and feel he is underrated.

i think the mavs are a very talented team and i think carlisle is good coach and i have a lot of money on the dallas mavericks.

my question would be about carlisle's demeanor. he seems to constantly berate and have negative body language. i dunno if its good or bad, he just seems negative...
