Meh, convinced I'm right. Have someone listen to it and ask what that person thinks LeBron says (without telling the person what it's "supposed" to say beforehand, of course).

We are Pacers fans. And we never win this game.

We didn't win this game in 1994. Well, technically we didn't win this game in 1994 because we couldn't win game 6 in 1994 with a 3-2 lead on a pretender Knicks team that got rolled in the finals. Olajuwon owned Smits too so it's not like we would have fared much better. But we didn't win it anyway. We were 6-9 from three in game 7. But we didn't have a point guard on that team who was worth a ****. Workman played out of his mind that entire second half of the season. But we didn't win this game in 1994.

We didn't win this game in 1995. Hell, we didn't show up fir this game in 1995. An 11 year old boy returning on a flight from Paris in Pacers gear to try and catch the game didn't get a chance to feel the pain. It was over by halftime. All the drama of the victory of one of the greatest game endings of playoff history, seriously, the last 20 seconds of this game are bananas... ....... meant nothing. We didn't show up for this game in 1995. And we didn't win in 1995.

We didn't win this game in 1998. Michael was gritty. Phil put Scottie on Mark Jackson. It was brilliant. And the 58-win Pacers, the best Pacers team of my lifetime, didn't win this game. They didn't win it because Michael was too good. Or the Bulls were too good. They didn't win it because they couldn't get a rebound in the 4th quarter of a game 7 in which they had been legitimately better. Rik Smits also lost a jump ball to a guy a foot shorter in a crucial moment. That was fun. Heartbreak in 1998 as I watched my most beloved Pacers team lose their best chance.

1999 locked out the chance for this team to lose this game. They were just too old. They got run off the floor in the conference finals by Latrell Sprewell and an 8 seed.

We didn't win this game in 2000. Specifically game 4. But also game 6. But really game 4. The real birth of Kobe Bryant came against us in game 4 of that finals. With Shaq having fouled out (of course we get him in the finals during his most dominant year) Bryant exploded and became Kobe in a game that should have tied the series 2-2. We didn't win game 6 either, though we had every opportunity to do so. Reggie went 2-10 from three. We made the finals for the one and only time in 2000. And we didn't win.

We didn't win much of anything for the next decade. Except strip club brawls. But only when we were fighting other team members. Also Jermaine O'Neal won in Detroit against that guy who looked like Turtle from Entourage. But that was one punch. And that was the only thing we won that season. Also Tinsley with the dustpan. That was the highlight for me. We won that. We lost the best chance we ever had at a title. And the franchise's dignity for the next 7 years.

We didn't win this game last year. Again, game 4. A chance to go up 3-1 on a beatable team that won the title. We didn't win because we were too young. Well, we just weren't good enough. We didn't win.

We are Pacers fans. We don't win this game. We never have the superstar. We never have THE man. We always have the team that loses valiantly to the man. I'm tired of it. We have another shot in a few hours. I've become immune to a lot of the genuine emotion I used to feel as a fan. I've embraced statistics. I know we actually have a decent shot. And I know past performance isn't an indicator of future results. But if history has taught me anything it's that we don't win these games. And tomorrow I'll feel lousy. And the players will be distraught. And casualfan will bitch and cry. And Frank Vogel will give the same presser we've been subjected to for 20 years after these losses. And my friends will be terrible. And my facebook feed will be unreadable. And life will go on. Like it has for 20 years. I'll care less and less until I have a son who cares like 10 year old me did in 1994.

We are Pacers fans. And we don't win this game.

Tonight's prediction: Refs rig the game and the entire pacers starting 5 fouls out in the 1st quarter. The Pacers still win the game. As the final buzzer sounds, Labronne curls up in the fetal position and starts crying. In fact, he cries so hard that the entire arena fills up with his salty tears, drowning everyone in attendance.
