I finally got to watch some of Melo last night. I'm even more excited. It seems he might the elite ability to make his teammates better with how well he passes. There were multiple spots where he set them up for easy success. And it doesn't look like he's out there just throwing passes hoping they work. They're well-timed, and while still of the risky type at times, it's smart risky. He's confident in his passing abilities.

His shot doesn't appear to be as broken as I thought. And I think he is going to buy in on defense.

The Hornets actually might have a decent core of good players needing a superstar or two. Melo can be the first.

Spoiler:
Hold me.

The Dunc'd on guys seem to clearly prefer Melo above the other two selected, and they make good cases. Out of the three he pretty clearly has the best odds at being elite imo--not great odds but I think his ceiling is higher than Wiseman and Edwards.

This almost makes up for the "have a happy summer" line he gave after eliminating his old team a few years back.

Watched around 3.5 quarters of Charlotte so far - Ball can play. His shot looks awkward but compared to Lonzo when he entered the league, Melo's Ray Allen.

Ball should blend well with Hayward if Hayward can stay on the floor - good luck with that.

I like Graham. Washington seems to play hard. Rozier doesn't fit.

Cody Zeller's making 15.4 million to run ball. God Bless America.

Forget which thread it was where I asked, why exactly was Shaq that much more dominant than Jokic?

Got laughed at, but:

Dood and I also got scoffed at when we said Jokic was better than Zinger when they were rooks.

Hollinger always agreed too.

What Shaun Livingston was supposed to be (my take) looks right from what I've seen.

Quote:
SHAUN LIVINGSTON

Height: 6-7

Weight: 186

Last season's stats: 18.0 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 5.4 apg, 51% FG

OVERVIEW: Livingston is an early entry candidate out of high school who committed to Duke. He was named Mr. Basketball in Illinois after his senior season at Central High School in Peoria and led his club to a second straight state title. Livingston developed a name for himself on the Ft. Sooy AAU team in the summer and was widely recognized as the best high school point guard prospect, drawing raves for his passing ability. Livingston played well in the Roundball Classic in Chicago before an uneven performance in Oklahoma City at the McDonald's All-American game. However, Livingston has unusual skills for a 6-7 player and may be the best player in the draft.

LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Livingston has continued to move up in the draft as teams realize his ability. The Clippers are interested and could bite but would probably prefer to trade down a few spots to get a point guard. Chicago cannot afford to take another high school player but is looking to make a deal. A club such as Memphis, which is without a first-round pick, could trade up to get Livingston. Charlotte has worked out Livingston but is focused on getting a prospect who can provide dividends in the short term. Washington, which already has Gilbert Arenas at point guard, has not been linked with Livingston. Is the organization hiding something? The Hawks would be interested if they are still drafting at No. 6, but they may trade up to select Atlanta prep star Dwight Howard. If that happens, whoever the Hawks make a deal with would probably target Livingston if he were still on the board.

COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Magic Johnson

COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Jalen Rose

ROLE PROJECTION: Starter, future Hall of Famer

POSITIVES: Any team that passes up Livingston for a more polished pearl will not be able to live it down seven years from now. By then, at only 25, Livingston will be able to dominate a NBA game without scoring a single point and eventually will go down as one of the greatest playmakers in NBA history. Not only does he have incredible vision and instincts, but his towering 6-7 frame allows him to get his shot off with very little spacing from his defender, while his outstanding ballhandling protects the rock from grabby opponents. He does not have to operate from the far perimeter, as most guards do, offering him unique passing angles from mid-range. Livingston's height, long arms and ability to palm a basketball let him quickly dish the ball over or around his defender with the flick of one hand.

SHORTCOMINGS: Only one thing can block Livingston from stardom, and that is not improving his long-range shooting. If opponents do not respect Livingston's outside shot, they can crowd him defensively on the far perimeter, preventing him from penetrating to the mid-range area of the floor, which is where he does most of his damage.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: "He's outstanding, that's easy. I watched him a lot this year. He has a chance, and (I) hate to compare players because I usually don't do this, but I think he's special like J-Kidd — he can see (the whole floor). — Memphis Grizzlies scout Rodney Heard
Just looked up a predraft report.

i promise you i hate the raptors more than i'm selling out for jokes.

its never ending with these people. we had 1 year off from them gaslighting about their 1st round picks and they're at it again after just 2 games. flynn didn't even do that well since he had 5 turnovers and 4 fouls in the 20 minutes he scored 19 points against mostly scrubs and these troglodytes are talking ROTY.

heat vs raptors* tonight @ 7. hope this flynn guy tears his acl and we can asterisk the heat win

For sure. I hope Hayward can stay out there, but with his finger already ****ed, who knows?

I like Graham, PJ, and Bridges.

Zeller is definitely lol, but at least he's trying to continue to expand his range. He didn't shoot great from 3 last year on around an attempt per game, but I'm hoping he gets a little better.

Rozier doesn't fit either.

However, I do think that both Rozier and Graham should be able to benefit by playing more off of the ball and letting Melo handle more of the ball handling duties. And it really shouldn't be a matchup problem due to Melo's height, even with DG and Rozier being pretty short.

Regardless of our final record, the team should at least be fun to watch with a lot of young dudes. They'll be getting up and down the floor.

Scoffing was correct, it's just harder to break a pile of oats than a 7'3" stick.

kiwi could walk if this season goes bad again
jrue more likely to stay now that giannis has signed
olidipo to miami? are the pacers trading him?
derozan who knows, some contender will 20-30m to blow

just noticed that ddr shot 53% last season btw (46% for his career)

any other big free agents?

kawhi, gobert, jrue re-sign. oladipo goes to mavs. derozan who cares cuz he sucks. the dude had a -1.39 rpm last year and his team was better with him on the bench for the 10th time in 11 seasons. the league has gotten wise to him and he'll be on the wrong side of 30. more likely to get 30m total than 30m/yr

Yeah LaMelo's ceiling is the reason he should've been the #1 pick.

In the NBA draft you should be drafting for CEILING ffs.

If the Knicks had the #1 pick I'd have been jonesing for LaMelo even if they had a (young) serviceable point guard.
