The former seems more likely, but the Knicks had a nice offseason last year so we'll see ...

I hope the Blazers can hang onto Harkless

And Crabbe too, but that ship has probably sailed given the buzz I'm hearing about his likely contract offers

@aejones - sorry I didn't finish my post.

50M for George Hill (@32), and Gordon Hayward. Then the following year you have to give the same amount of money to Gobert and Favors in order to keep this core together. Assuming you have normal-ish contracts on your roster, that puts you squarely into the luxury tax bracket... and you're sitting on a 50ish win team that maybe gets out of the first round once or twice.

Do you really want to bring on an aging PG if that is your end game? I think they would have been much better off squeezing everything they could from Ainge and giving up Hayward, and building around their three bigs who are on excellent contracts.

Massive, Massive, huge, ginormous, insanely massively big and ginormous win for the Jazz. #12 is dicey as it is and Hill is as steady as it gets. The Jazz sign Maurice Harkless in FA and they're in the same tier as Thunder/Spurs
George Hill is that good? I was thinking he was not a top 20 PG.

ETA: He's had a PER over 15 in 3 of his 8 seasons and how he's 30.

why would dwight want to go to ny? He has already played w 2 big volume ball hogs such as kobe and harden and he didnt fit with them. And now he is gonna go to another big market team that has 2 ball hogs? Also considering knicks are gonna suck no matter what next season.

he does things that PER does not capture. he is very good. i am overstating it but i promise you he's better than the general public thinks. just watch clips of him in the playoffs this year:

on defense he's a statuesque specimen moving his feet perfectly, staying down for shot fakes and using his length to contest. he smashed kyle, a top 10 player itl.

on offense he snaked the PNR wonderfully got into the teeth of the defense, made good decisions, finished, and made a bunch of wide open threes.

Look there are only so many things you can do if you're the Jazz. You are committed to Hayward, Favors, and Gobert (good things to be committed to) as your front court, you'll have to pay them a lot (or decide to trade one if Lyles proves to be as good as they think). Figure that out later-- for now you have basically a carbon copy of what Exum should strive to become on a super value contract with a low cap hold next year. Hopefully they can resign George to something between 2/25 and 3/50 or something for his early 30s, let him start to platoon with Exum (or play alongside him). He's the perfect PG next to Burks, Hood, and Haywards playmaking ability from the wing. These guys are going to be silky on D next year if they stay healthy. Hill adds a few wins and they had bad health last year, I think they'll be better than the Clippers.

To top it all off they're built PERFECTLY to play the top end teams in the West. They have defense at all 5 positions, decent switchability, and now they have a top 5ish guy to guard Steph/Russ.

edit: I don't think we really disagree about anything except the scale of how good they'll be. I think they'll be like 5 wins better than you do, and I think those 5 wins mean they're some kind of tier 2 contender that gives them a shot to run good (like the Thunder nearly did this year) and win one. You simply can't ask for better than that, especially without a top 10 player. For this season (and hell, going forward) they just weren't this good 3 hours ago. Now they are.

Agree with AJ that the Knick trade is bad. Lopez was only going to get more valuable as things unfold and who else was bidding for Rose?
06-22-2016 , 06:35 PM
btw I noticed you said someone had been outspoken about leaving, who is that? Hayward? I hadn't seen those reports.

They'll probably try to do something like renegotiate and extend with Favors and commit to that front court, which is probably fine. Also Hayward can leave in FA, but how can he be more likely to leave if you get to the WCF or something?

Cliffs: Stop being a pussy and go for it. You have a bunch of good prime players, they're finally going for it and their fan base should be ****ing thrilled. You can't worry about flexibility when you have stars (might as well consider Hayward/Favors/Gobert stars I guess, you get the idea) in their prime.

AEJ

how sure are you that Hill>Teague? Seems like Teague will immensely help Turner improve specifically given his ability in the P&R
06-22-2016 , 07:15 PM
I'm pretty sure hill > teague
06-22-2016 , 07:22 PM
I don't understand the Knicks hate. Yes they're the Knicks and yes they're always going to be pathetic. This was still a good trade though. Robin Lopez isn't moving the needle for them. Might as well gamble on some cap space even though it won't amount to anything.
06-22-2016 , 07:23 PM
George Hill is the difference between not in the playoffs and on par with the Spurs. Who knew?
06-22-2016 , 07:24 PM
Christophersen, Woj Jr.

Just like last offseason, keep the rumors, deals and news flowing!
06-22-2016 , 07:25 PM
Hill vs Teague depends. Think both teams got better and the Jazz last year with Hill would have been fantastic.

I think they technically could, but it would hinder any efforts to go after some big name. Both those guys made MONEY with how they played last year.

And I love DLose on the Knicks, it's perfect. He's just going to get hurt in like game 5 anyway. Maybe Phil will actually show up to the first couple home games.
06-22-2016 , 08:37 PM
Don't think it should be too expensive for them to hang on to Harkless afaik if they want to keep him
06-22-2016 , 08:51 PM
could be Moe

As a Pacers fan, I'm thinking this too. Don't think I like the trade, unless for some reason IND are particularly confident he will re-sign.

Even if his isn't better, Hill definitely seems like a better fit with PG and Ellis, being not particularly ball dominant and a good defender. Though maybe they are going to move Monta too. One can dream...

EDIT: "Teague is crafty off the bounce and one of the league's most-frequent drivers (10.8 per game), but without the basketball he disappears where George Hill shines brightest. Indiana's starting guard shot 44.9 percent on catch-and-shoot three-pointers this season, which trailed only Stephen Curry, J.J. Redick, Kawhi Leonard, and Kyle Lowry (minimum 300 points scored off the pass)."

:/

Since it seems the majority itt have Hill > Teague, I'll go against the grain and say I'm pretty sure Teague > Hill.

Hill is more consistent but Teagues better imo.
