Spoiler:
Realize it's most likely a joke, but on twitter people will run with it

what is your definition of champtionship/title equity?
07-16-2015 , 09:00 PM
West rankings (in predicted order and also tiers):
Favourites:
GSW - Dominant champs bring back basically same team
Spurs - One of the next best teams last year just added a top 15 player

Other contenders:
Clippers - Top 4 starting 5 improved at weakest spot and improved bench, but its basically the same team that always underwhelms come playoffs and CP3 is probably slightly on the decline by now
OKC - Two top 7 players and a basically perfect "third best player", but the rest is complete trash and so is the coach and organisation. Big 3 might just be that good though
NOP - Obv being real contenders would take huge improvement, but Brow is going to be the GOAT and now they have a real coach. Actual equity imo

Playoffs or thereabouts but no real equity:
Houston - Basically same team as last year really. Actually locks for playoffs really barring a disaster, just can't see how this team can possibly go all the way so I'll chuck them in here (they're better than the rest of this category though)
Memphis - Everything I said about Houston, just slightly worse.
Utah - Exciting young team that can defend like crazy. My tip for 8th seed.
Phoenix - Have had a weird off season. Feel like they could surprise but could also just be not very good

Not awful but won't playoff:
Minnesota - Should improve heaps, but clearly won't be quite playoff level in west yet
Dallas - Losing DAJ pretty much killed their playoff hopes, but I think still better than a few real bad teams

Complete trash/tanking:
Portland
Denver
LAL

Think the Lakers. Then think the exact opposite of the Lakers.

I can't conceive having MEM and HOU a tier below NOP.

Brow would have to play at supersayan level for the pelicans to be better than memphis and houston because there's just so much more quality on their respective roster that you can't just outweigh with AD. Those two teams have schemes working for them while NOP is still a big question mark. It's not like they can improve a ton from last year because AD was already a monster, I hope to be wrong but I don't think he's gonna have a gear that's just going to propel the pelicans to 2nd tier category

I'll concede it could possibly be considered a HOT TAKE, but I think bolded is just flat wrong.

Gentry was actually the genius in GS and the Pels are winning 65 games next year

lol jk

Don't sleep on Brow. He's the future GOAT and still has room to improve quite a bit.

I would love to bet Houston or Memphis vs Pelicans whether you wanna do wins, last longer, etc.

BREAKING: Clippers have changed their goals for next season to a third round playoff exit instead of second round.

What do you guys think Brow will shoot % from 3 next season?

Yea I guess I probably don't truly believe that they are favourites to win more games than either of Houston or Memphis, but they definitely have a higher potential ceiling imo and therefore more equity. I would 100% in theory do a "NOP ring I win, Houston ring you win all else push" style bet, but that's pretty pointless. Don't think that's really inconsistent with what I said above.

AD is 22 y.o.

Look at how much GS improved going from M Jax to Kerr + Gentry + Adams.

NOP was practically tied with Toronto @ #22 and #23 on defense with Brow + Asik playing the 2nd and 4th most minutes. They also #4 itl in 3P% but #23 in 3PA.

Monty Williams was as bad, maybe worse, than M Jax. Their ceiling is pretty high based on the players improving and upgrades with Gentry & Erman.

Yeah, I don't agree that Denver is the worst team in the west. That distinction still goes to the lake show imo. Kobe is in his last year as a Laker and if this last season was any sort of pre cursor to what "close to end of his career" Kobe looks like we might see a guy at 50% USG

KJ McDaniels is another idea and probably the best idea. Rockets trying to get him for MLE (5.4M), so just beat that offer and they may have him.

Yeah, if you can get a good prospect or whatever then of course do that

But don't overpay multiyear contracts just to get to floor

Man I massively disagree.

I know they want to be bad, but if they lose Ty Lawson they will be just that--Mudiay has a great ceiling but his game is probably going to be such that he may be one of the most detrimental players to his team from a wins/loss perspective. That plus the West being so brutal and I think they can keep the wins in the mid/high 20's with a few "rest days" here and their for their vets.

Gallo/Chandler imo are multi-position guys that are hard to replace, and giving them up fora pick each seems like a leak given the likely production from said picks. They have talent on their team and don't need to tank--New York and Mudiay will do all of that for them imo

When was the last time Gallo wasn't injured for half the season?

I'll do that bet for $50 a piece on Memphis and Houston.
07-17-2015 , 12:22 AM
But given their ages of 26 & 28, those two are likely to be declining at the start of any window Denver may have, even if everything breaks right.

Gallo's stats last year from his 1st game of the year playing 30 minutes through the rest of the season:

He's a star
