yeah that non-deal definitely changed some NBA history pretty drastically.

Knicks get the 3 worst players by a long shot, yet Knick fans are celebrating.

It's bitter-sweet for me. On one hand it makes NYK weaker, but it strengthens the West even more. Silver please step in and fix this nonsense.

Chandler trade official according to Yahoo.

Melo is gone right?
06-25-2014 , 06:09 PM
ok they also got shane larkin, wayne ellington and the 34/51 picks.

shane and that first pick make it look slightly better, but not by enough to actually make the trade.

Honestly idk what real +- BS your quoting or whatever nugget homer babble you want to drool.

But in what world do you have Felton > calderon
06-25-2014 , 06:11 PM
pretty whatever trade for the knicks - 34 + 51 + larkin is prob a tick better than packaging shump and getting back the 20th pick or something

its not like the knicks are gonna ever wipe their cap to zero and they'er 90% to trade calderon in 2 years for that version of jose calderon with another 3/21 to go so it doesn't seem to matter a whole helluva lot

agree though that melo is gone now. shrug.

Calderon>>>>>felton. Did you watch a single game last season?
06-25-2014 , 06:13 PM
felton was an unbelievable cancer on the team last year

for some reason he developed the ability to nail corner 3s in high leverage spots and lost literally every other ability.

edit: upon reflection, I'd guestimate like 25% of seadood's posts have to do wtih the knicks sucking or getting better and how effects a draft pick

I think Seadood meant 3 worst assets. Calderon a 3/21 commitment whereas Felton is like 2/8 but I dunno could be wrong
06-25-2014 , 06:16 PM
calderon's 3/21 is more like 2/14 starting in '15 since they're capped as **** next year anyway. he could make the min or 27 million dollars, they need a starting PG, and have literally endless money. and then they'll trade that 2/14 for some 3/21 because they just do that **** in endless circles

it doesn't matter at all.

So Melo to Bulls?

Be funny if this set up him going to Dallas but I doubt it
06-25-2014 , 06:18 PM
Felton is unwatchable and I hate him with every fiber of my being. Didn't watch enough of the Mavs to say much on Calderon but seems like he has to be better.

Is there any chance Shane Larkin becomes a solid backup PG? He shot 41% on 3s on 4.7 attempts/game in his soph year in college and was a good scorer/creator. He barely played last year
06-25-2014 , 06:19 PM
larkin could be a solid backup but with his lack of size probably never any more than that
06-25-2014 , 06:21 PM
larkin can still definitely be a solid backup. but that's of little value. the question is can he start and i'm not sure he can. he's fast, quick, and has quick hands but he's friggin tiny as hell and his rookie year SSS stats aren't too inspiring. he's definitely worth less than the 30th pick in this year's draft.

Totally correct and I don't think he's worth a top 40 pick this year

just catching up to speed on the lolknicks trade. i've crunched some numbers and you may be surprised by the conclusion:

Spoiler:
lol knicks

This dwindles Pau's options some but with ZBo/Grizz reportedly not seeing eye to eye that could be an interesting spot for him.

Then they deal Conley for Calderon and just reunite the Spanish national team
06-25-2014 , 06:30 PM
PHIL already the GOAT GM if he can successfully trade Ray Felton.
06-25-2014 , 06:31 PM
tyson is a chunk of cash more expensive than dalembert, and even if he may be in decline i think he's worth it.

calderon is > FRF, but if he's paid 3/22 vs 2/9 i think he's the more toxic asset. i suppose you could argue that larkin, 34, and 51 counterbalance this a bit to make the swap neutralish. but $2.5M expiring of wayne ellington is deadweight.

what were the knacks hoping to accomplish with this? they are still over the cap, they acquired no meaningful assets, and i don't see how calderon/dalembert is > felton/chandler. is melo bff's with hose or sam? what level are they on here?
06-25-2014 , 06:34 PM
dalembert is non-gtd 3.8 mill and they're reportedly trying to package him and shane for whatever they can get.
06-25-2014 , 06:35 PM
knicks clearly getting labron
06-25-2014 , 06:36 PM
so phil can probably swap those two for a handy under the table and then what?

they still can't have more than a sliver of cap space and that's only if they renounce melo. i donut understand.

Tanking/saved 4M in total (4M is like 4k to the Knicks tho so can't imagine that mattered much)

I just think the deal indicates they know Melo is gone.

Not sure why they agreed to take Calderon back but I don't hate the deal for them. Maybe they don't wanna pay Melo 5/110 or w/e and figure push him out the door also...
06-25-2014 , 06:39 PM
this trade doesn't seem to cripple them or anything. but it's just...directionless. i don't understand what they feel they gained from the transaction.
06-25-2014 , 06:40 PM
I can't handle much more Tarheel blue in a Mavs uniform I'll tell ya that
