its funny you act like barnes is established. his season last yr was a disappointment. he went from the no-brainer top pick in the preseason to a 3-6 projection and then bitched out on the draft bc he was scared he would slip.
yes it does. if drummond could be drafted tmrw, he'd go 1. but because he has to play the entire season, it only gives him the opportunity to falter. Can't go any way but down. Hasheem Thabeet was pretty damn good in college. An iffy prospect doesn't go high due to potential, that's basically an oxymoron.
And of course Barnes is established. His season was a disappointment only in the sense that it's much harder to stay at the very top then it is to climb from the bottom. Although tbf, don't think Barnes was ever going #1. If drummond has a good season but a few other prospects show themself to be better than expected during their freshman year and rising in the rankings and knocking drummond down a few pegs by default, you'd say he disappointed by the same logic.
Barnes showed that he's a legit top prospect. I don't think him not being a top pick was the reason he didn't come out, especially because he would've been a top pick.
