I have to knock Magic down a peg since we aren't sure that he was free of the AIDS in 87 IMO.

Kidding of course, very good pick that was better than a few guys above him.

Round 1 Pick 9 From Assani Fisher
Kareem Abdul Jabbar / Center / 7'2"

Highlights of that sweet sky-hook.

Awards: WOW!

19 Time All Star
6 Time MVP
2 Time Finals MVP
15 Time All NBA (10 first team)
11 Time All Defense (6 first)
6 Time NBA Champ
NBA's All time leading scorer

Stats for the year I'm selecting (1979-1980 Age 32)

23.3 PPG
10.1 RPG
3.2 Blk
4.5 AST

25.3 PER
.639 TS
118 Ortg
100 Drtg
15 Win Shares (led league)
MVP
All Defensive 1st

Playoffs that year:

31.9 PTS
12.6 Rbs
3.9 Blks
3.1 Ast

27.9 PER
.611 TS
118 Ortg
99 Drtg

I don't think there is much need to discuss just how good Kareem is. The awards, accolades, and stats speak for themselves, so I'm just going to talk about what makes him so special.

Offense:

Kareem is an incredibly efficient scorer, and can obviously create his own shot. He's one of the few centers who are have been their teams #1 option when taking last second shots. He also gets a ton of assists, even if you adjust for pace. Any way you slice it, Kareem was an extremely skilled and smart basketball player on this end of the floor.

Defense:

His length allowed him to be the best shot blocker in the league for most of his career. His low Drtg and 11 All Defensive nods should speak for themself.

Longevity/Injury Concerns:

Kareem played 82 games in the season I'm choosing him, 80 games prior and 80 games after. He's always been one of the more durable big men in the league.

Caveat:

Kareemdeveloped a reputation as being a little soft in the regular season. While his regular season numbers are amazing, they are nothing compared to how he performed in the playoffs, which is why I posted his playoff numbers for that year.

Also, he became just an above-average to average rebounder as his career wore on. Being 32, that's clearly something I'll have to address with future picks.

I doubt this is the case when we see what kind of centers are left in 60 picks compared to PGs.

Got your PM, sorry it was too late... Of course I would have if I'd known who you were taking.

I was going to take KG with the 11th if Kareem wasn't available. Obv we know which season you are going for, and it's a great pick. KG is the tits.

you might be right that magic isnt clearly a better pick b/c of the lack of bigs, but i guess what i was saying is he was def a better overall player.

Is NozeCandy online? If he is and ready to pick, then I'd go ahead Franchise. If not, then you can probably wait and talk to Tuq first.

If you are unsure of who you want you can move down two spots for swaps in rounds 2 and 3 IMO.

I dunno, you should have had some sort of preliminary talks already though.

There's an obvious choice and a couple others that would be as good imo

Wade, Kareem, Magic

In this one season thing, for sure

Either his 03-04 or 04-05 I'd be more comfortable to build with than those 3, although its close
