Dominant defensive big men in MGasol and Hibbert. Having a defensive center who can cover mistakes will imo be crucial to the type of defense Mike Conley and Paul George want to play, and out of all the Centers left I feel Asik is the best in that department.

You have nowhere near enough to get Kyrie. You'd need a 3rd, a 4th, and the ability to let me move up in the 5th....out of those 3 things, you only have a 4th.

It's almost impossible to find a big who's great at defense without hurting the offense to some degree with the exception of probably Marc Gasol, and that's why teams often ditch a center for stretches. Being a "huge detriment" to an offense is hyperbole when compared to other centers, and the defensive impact of Asik more than makes up for offensive inefficiencies.

DAJ yes, Larry Sanders not even close. And you've just named 3 other guys who went 40-50 picks ago.

I'm saying that most elite defensive bigs are negatives on offense, to which degree it depends. I'm not saying Asik is better than guys drafted in the first round offensively, of course he's not. What he has proven to be over the last three years is dominant defensively, and lineups that he's been in have crushed overall in spite of his "stone hands". They've outcrushed lineups featuring 4 of the last 5 DPOY's, and overall have had a similar point differential.

Or to look at it a different way, why did the top 3 lineups, with the only difference being swapping Asik for Howard, why did they record a better point differential overall? I would illustrate this but it'd require a bunch of undrafteds.
