1 for 7 from the line tonight. Really weird line. 19 boards, 4-5 from the field and 1-7 from the line.

If it gets to midnight ET without a pick for LL, he is skipped at that point. At that point the mjw and charder picks would become official and it would be on bobbo followed by NOTC.

Round 5, Pick 129: Kyle Lowry, G

Toughness. Grit. Determination. Heart. Clutch. Kyle-Lowry.

Kyle Lowry was booted from Memphis in what was a steal for the Rockets (1st round pick, 3 way deal involving the Magic). In Memphis though he couldn't break out due to Mike Conley, and currently in Houston he can't seem to start over Aaron Brooks. I believe - strongly - he's better than both of them. Regardless, this is Lowry's 4th season, and although he has only started 30 times in his career, he plays starter-level minutes. Some basics:
-Lowry fits perfectly with my core in terms of age. He is 23 years old and so will be entering his prime next year. (On the improvement cycle)
-Kyle is a true battler. After only playing 10 games his rookie year, he's missed a total of 5 games these past 2+ years. (82, 77, 40/40 currently) That's physical health!

My plan is to start 6' Lowry in the PG spot. He's capable of pushing the ball in transition, but to be honest, with Thabeet (slow+lumbering), Landry (post beast and pnr master) and Carmelo (more of an iso player) my starters are more equipped for a slow, grind it out game. I think we're good in the halfcourt, so when Lowry can push the ball solo (or run with 'Buike) I'll give him the green light, but generally he can bring up the ball against presses, feed Landry when applicable, and slash off of Carmelo's posting. I actually like Lowry off ball a LOT, not so much for his 3pt% (it's bad), but due to his gaudy OREB%. (He crashes the glass, this is very obvious by looking at his free throw rates as well)

Defensively, despite Lowry's stature (again, just a 6 footer) dude is JACKED. He often guards SGs when paired in the backcourt with Brooks, and is widely considered a very plus defender. Lowry's foul rate (3.4 per 36 career) is pretty normal; I'll use some cross-matching depending on who 'Buike/Carmelo guard, but basically, Lowry's flexibility is a nice positive.

Some raw stats I suppose:
-Offensively, Lowry's foul rate (5.4 fta per 36) and shot distribution (most of his shots are in the paint) are what I love. He gets the ball and lowers his head, getting fouled alot.
-Further, his TOV% for a passing PG (17.2%) is solid. It's not special, but basically he protects the ball, gets in the paint, makes things happen.
-Finally, as noted, he's THE premier offensive rebounding PG. A 6.7 OREB% is nuts. For comparison, there are 23 players (!) who are 6'9 or taller who have already logged 700 minutes with a smaller OREB rate.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/...l=&order_by=ws

Guys like Troy Murphy, Kevin Garnett, Andrea Bargnani all rebound less often on the offensive end.

Because of this, even though Lowry's raw shooting percentages aren't wonderful (53.0 TS%, career 53.7%) his ORTG is fantastic. (113) I guess some people will mock Lowry's APM (it's -2.39 2yr), he rates very highly on RAPM as well as current 1 year. So, I'm not worried!

Team BobboFitos
PG - Kyle Lowry
SF - Carmelo Anthony
PF - Carl Landry
PF/C - Chuck Hayes
C - Hasheem Thabeet

it appears Lloyd is skipped. I still need to do my Kelenna Azibuike writeup, but I'm going to go with:

I think he's pretty good value here. He will platoon with Lowry, plus I can pair them in the backcourt since Ramon has size (6'3) and both can guard either PGs or SGs decently. Ramon is also pass-first, which is nice, as I WANT all my shots going to Carmelo or Landry.

It goes without saying that Ramon is an APM warrior, obviously.

Currently my team looks like:

PG - Kyle Lowry
SG - Kelenna Azibuike
SF - Carmelo Anthony
PF - Carl Landry
C - Hasheem Thabeet

1st G off the bench - Ramon Sessions
1st big off the bench - Chuck Hayes

'Buike can play the 3 a little and Carmelo can play the 4, so I'm not really worried about minutes at all. I'll probably get a purer backup wing next or go with a guy I can slide in at the 4 if Landry gets into foul trouble/I dont want to go small.

Sorry for jumping the gun earlier, I was posting from my phone and had thought I was up.

I know Bibby's fallen off a bit, but I wanted to add a veteran shooter to help Ty Lawson if/when he struggles. I think Bibby is a guy that can do just that. He and Ray Allen should stretch the floor nicely.

Team so far:
PG- Ty Lawson/Mike Bibby
SG- Ray Allen
SF- Ronnie Brewer
PF- Luis Scola
C- Pau Gasol

Very poor form. Not a single PM shipped my way by anyone. And I'm on GMT time, so expecting me to jump on between 12am and 5am on a Monday night checking every thread in detail seems a bit weak.

Round 6, Pick 172: Kelenna Azubuike, SG/SF

Lebron:NBA, Kelenna:NBDL

I'll make this writeup a little shorter; I'm essentially drafting the LeBron James of the NBDL. 'Buike is the best player to come from the D-League, and it's sad he's injured this year. In any event:
-'Buike is 26 Years Old this year, making him (along with Melo) a team veteran. Awesome!
-In the 2006-07 season, Golden State called up Buike. He played 41 straight games for the club. The following year, he played 81 games, missing a game in the middle of the season after posting nearly a 100 consecutive games. Last year he played 74 games; this year he played the first 9 until he ripped apart his patella tendon. Will he make a full recovery? I certainly hope so. This is sorta the fluke-rule injury, but, it's the type of injury that can get re aggravated. So I'll have to keep my eyes on him.

Kelenna is 6'5, enabling him to play either wing spot. That said, it's pretty clear he's my starting SG, as he pairs with Carmelo pretty effectively. The big reason I wanted Kelenna is for his floor spacing; he's one of the best shooters in the league. (Actually, it's a shame that Anthony Morrow and Stephen Curry are on his team, because he's probably only the 3rd best shooter on his own team!) I don't envision running set plays for Kelenna, but rather, use him as the safety/kickout in most postups or position him in the corner in the event the ball gets swung to him.

Defensively, I wrote about how Lowry at the PG enables me to selectively cross match. I can pretty much put Lowry on the 1 or 2 and Kelenna on the 2 or 3, so Carmelo can relax on defense/play the roamer spot. Although 'Buike is not known as a stopper, his overall defensive rankings are weak pretty much because of his team, not so much himself. In fact, his pf/36 are very low (so I'll just throw him on the tougher matchup to start) and his block rates are exceptional (for a G he's up there amidst the leaders) so I'm very willing to try him in the stopper role. As my 4th option I think it's fine to have him focus on defense, too. Hollinger seems to think he's a good defensive player:

Quote:
Azubuike is a decent athlete with good strength, making him a pretty good defensive player overall and particularly effective against those who play a power game. While nobody on this team seems overly concerned with that end of the floor, the Warriors did give up 3.3 points fewer per 40 minutes with Azubuike playing last season.
Splitting back to offense real fast, there are 2 pertinent facts about 'Buike:
-He has a career 40.9 3pt%. (On nearly 4per36, so that's solid volume too) He actually has 5k+ career minutes as well. Because he's also a solid finisher (kinda like a younger Jason Richardson) he probably isn't known for his shooting prowess, but basically he can finish + hit open shots: Key attributes in the 4th option for a starting unit. FWIW, he had a 62.3 TS% this year.
-Kelenna has a historically great (yes, great) turnover rate. He's not even strictly a catch-and-shoot guy (he finishes off cuts too!) but he just nearly always gets a shot off. For my offense (Lowry, Carmelo, Landry, Thabeet, AND Hayes all hit the glass very well!) those non-turnover possessions are key.

Unfortunately, I can't really get a good read on his APM due to his low minutes this year. It's a shame, but hey, what can you do!

Team BobboFitos
PG - Kyle Lowry
SG - Kelenna Azubuike
SF - Carmelo Anthony
PF - Carl Landry
PF/C - Chuck Hayes
C - Hasheem Thabeet

Round 7 Pick 190
Byron Mullens, C

http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.c...08&ra_key=1617

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib3ObX-s9bI

Mullens is still the highly skilled 7 foooter that earned the #1 ranking in Rivals 2008 recruiting class. If things go a bit differently he's a first or second round pick. I'm thrilled with the upside, although I'm afraid he may eat ****** sandwiches. Rumor has it he thinks he's a power forward...seems like a natural fit to learn under TD.

Team so far:
Troy Murphy C
Tim Duncan PF
Corey Maggette SF
Omri Casspi SG
Steve Nash PG

Bench:
B.J. Mullens C
Brandan Wright PF
