dont know why you hold the celts up as the landmark in 3 years. i love this boston team, but the future isn't terribly magnificent. next year the team is locked up (player option for posey which i hope he exercises) and we're losing eddie house/pj/sam, replacing them with vet minimums and our 2nd rounder, possibly losing TA, but our important core is together - KG (32 next year) pierce (31) allen (33). Posey (32) Rondo (23) powe (25) perkins (24). Cool, so next year it's likely ray doesn't continue slipping too much, KG and PP may fall slightly, but rondo/perk improvement will likely balance that out. So, next year our team should be as good, probably not better, but not worse. moving on...
the year after though for sure we lose posey (ok whatever) but this is where we likely wont have our young role players (powe, baby = gone) and hopefully we exercise our option on rondo. but age truly is a fear here: 34, 33, and 32. at this point perk will no longer be improving, rondo likely wont improve too much more, and we have no young talent.
im not sure my point, only, as a celtics fan, this year is a great chance and i love this team, and next year i think we should be as good, but the year after (2009/10) our team is good but certainly not close to this year's team.
