Game significantly underrates a number of players(including Lebron, if Kobe is a 99 and Joe Johnson is a 92, Lebron is a 108). The game also doesn't understand team defense.

Structurally, the game doesn't reward getting an open jump shot enough(whether a shot is defensed is almost a binary blocked/open thing) while almost anyone over 6'6" can dunk at will. The Cavs are really good at getting open shots and LBJ has a borderline unique ability to dunk in traffic, but suddenly nobody cares about the first one and the second one isn't rare.

Eddie House is 50% (73/146) from 3 since the all-star break! pretty f'in sick imo

Josh Smith still not realizing that defenses want him to shoot jumpers.

how many monitors do you guys have in your home workrooms? I don't even play much poker anymore but I still use my two monitors judiciously (spreadsheets, browsing, watching stuff) and it's hard to use just one aymore elsewhere.

I just opened up my laptop as a 3rd screen to put a baseball game on, and now I feel like it's hard to operate without 3.

Lebron is so ridiculous
05-11-2009 , 08:07 PM
make a damn FT, Cleveland!
05-11-2009 , 08:08 PM
that play was just insane. he was on the other side of the court when bibby got the ball and just knew exactly where it was going before bibby even passed it.

That halftime play resulting in zero points is so lame. The wide shot shows that he covered an absurd amount of ground to intercept that pass. Dude would be a Pro Bowl tight end his rookie year in the NFL.
05-11-2009 , 08:12 PM
he should just be a wr. safety for sure. proly even cb.
05-11-2009 , 08:17 PM
he would be a lot more useful at de
05-11-2009 , 08:24 PM
DE would be interesting, but if you're not throwing some short yardage fade routes to him, you are doing it wrong. You could triple cover him and not have a chance of stopping that.

lebron in god mode

Really not sure why I thought of this, but did anyone catch a cavs game on nbatv this year? It's pretty ridiculous how bad those cleveland announcers are, literally sounding like they wanted to suck lebron's dick..

What other announcers deserve extreme homer awards? The Blazers guys are pretty out there too iirc

I would rather listen to homer announcers than Dick Stockton. My hate for him is unnatural.

The Cavs defense is good enough to carry them in games in which their shots just aren't falling. This is something that most championship teams have, and its the main reason I'm not as high on the Lakers as many here.
we probably disagree how good the cavs defense is. i know it's very good and but despite being near the top in def eff i don't think it's quite as good as its rating (same w/the magic tbh).

I mean, you're probably right that if LBJ doesn't have one single 30+,7+,7+ game in a series that they may be in trouble against a good team. However, LBJ can have one or two subpar offensive games and get by on their D still imo.
i agree that they can stay in games, but i'm not sure whether they can win them. they probably won't be locking down the lakers in the halfcourt like houston has done, or like the celtics and spurs did last year, but they have a better offense so they shouldn't have to-- but what if they need to? he has been so good while assuming such a large chunk of the offensive responsibilities that him slowing down resounds pretty heavily w/n the cavs offense. again, true for any team and it's #1 option but moreso for the cavs

offensive efficiencies will fall as the defense improves. lakers aren't a top defensive team, but in the scheme of things they are pretty good, certainly top 10. good enough to where he is unlikely to completely have his way and if he is only able to be very good and not great, i don't think the cavs defense is good enough to make up those points. that begs the question of how much the lakers can slow down lebron. idk whether they can do it well enough over the course of a series but they defended him effectively in both regular season meetings

of course similar arguments apply to the lakers as well

And how completely ridiculous is it that the bar for LBJ to have a "good game" for him is as high as something like 30/7/7? Just insane.
pretty ridiculous

Stockton gets too excited about how many fouls someone has. There will be 1:00 left in the third quarter and someone fouls, and it's his THIRD FOUL!

dwight howard would be helped - or any big that never is on the perimeter. 3pt specialists (like JJ reddick) would be hurt the most. best player would be Wade, actually, since so few of his points come beyond the arc.

This would have been a better series if Cle only played with 4 guys.

the chalk commercial (they just showed it) with the puppets is awesome

he would be tough to bring down w/the ball in his hands obv, but de has so much more of a consistent impact on the game. the most used wr's are only targeted 10 times per game
