Also was talking over this with a few friends and the reason Leon Powe doesn't play over Big Baby/Scali is cause hes in the final year of his contract and they want to sign him to a long term deal for super cheap, Ainge is a genius.

oh, this is clever

yeah super until Morey offers him more and still beats his market value
02-20-2009 , 02:55 AM
lol @ my tivo stopping recording w/ 1:26 left in 4th.

wasn't planning on all the fouls.
02-20-2009 , 03:07 AM
this will be epic if they sit him in the playoffs for that reason, especially since playoff performances are usually what net big contracts
02-20-2009 , 03:26 AM
god damn, I am having nightmares about Utah and Phoenix heating up, only to knock the Blazers out. But hopefully its Houston that gets the bump.

Bunch of good looking games tomorrow night. Should make up for Boston's pathetic performance and KG pulling a Pierce but forgetting to return.

02-20-2009 , 03:27 AM
did anyone else noticed Pierce faking an injury immediately after the pass to KG in which he was injured? He was grimmacing and looking for a wheel chair, but then realized Utah got the ball and was steaming up court, so he quickly recovered in time to look admonished at something.

Despite reports to the contrary, Bulls' GM John Paxson has told the media in Chicago that he is staying, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.

Expert living right there. Cats are happy though, and thankfully didn't run away. They really seem to be taking to their new toy.

Watching the Jazz game Doug Collins mentioned Ronnie Brewer is underrated. I think this is the first time in 6 months a commentator correctly labeled a player underrated.

I did think it was funny kidpcolin posted Pax was likely to leave hours after the presser.

Regarding Amare, I'm ok with it since he went to nobody. Had he been traded somewhere else, I'd have a far less reasoned look at things. Overall the Bulls trades were good. Got cap relief, better positioned long term, and likely a better roster short term. Nothing that is going to make a huge difference, but little things can add up. At least we addressed some needs.

What is the hourly of a writing editor?
02-20-2009 , 12:03 PM
Clark,

Proposed breakdown of Minutes in Chicago?

Tyrus has been playing well plus receiving a few games of 40 min + recently.
Kirk is just getting back in shape and probably thinks himself worth 30 min +.
Ben and Rose are used to ~36. Same with Salmons.
Brad Miller should be getting 30+.
Then you have Luol Deng, who is generally in the mid 30s.
Gray and Noah are used to being rotation guys as well.

Should be really interesting to see how Vinny handles the minutes in Chicago.

They basically did as well as possible. No complaints from me.

I'm not sure to be honest. It seems clear that in the offseason either Kirk is gone, Ben is gone, or both are gone. I think the smart money is on both, but it likely depends on what type of picks/expirings/junk we get for Kirk.

I'd assume the starting lineup will be Rose/Gordon/Deng/Tyrus/Miller with Salmons first man off the bench.

I'm guessing something like the following (change in minutes vs. last 30 days trend on their teams at the time (e.g. salmons was at 39mpg last 30 days in Sacramento)). Essentially an 8 man rotation with Deng occasionally sliding down to the 4 for smaller, quicker lineups:

Starters
Rose 33 (unchanged)
Gordon 30 (down 4)
Deng 33 (down 2)
Tyrus 32 (down 1)
Miller 26 (down 1)

Bench
Salmons 27 (down 12)
Hinrich 24 (down 3)
Noah 22 (down 8)
Gray 6 (down 7)
Tim Thomas (6 down 15)

Yes, they close at nine. According to the receipt I checked out at 8:54. We had been drinking double vodka & sodas since around 3:30. On top of this, the unexpected bender caused me to miss our league basketball game, which I came to find out we barely lost because in part because we didn't have a sub (to a team which features Mark West and Frank Johnson, ex-NBA luminaries imo). Also, my birthday friend called me this morning and said his credit card is missing, which I seem to remember him using at the second bar after insisting he buy at least one round of drinks.

On the plus side, of the six rounds of Golden Tee we played I finished no worse than twelfth in the country, including two top fives. Swing oil baby.

I must say, little Moe Moe, the former stray cat with the partially amputated tail, is really taking to this cat tower.

Salmons doesn't take well for coming off the bench. It's a huge complaint from most King fans. He plays much better with starting minutes and plays pretty awful off the bench.
02-20-2009 , 12:52 PM
So start him and bring Gordon off the bench, then punish Salmons for being a little girl by giving him 22mpg.
