OK fair enough but in this day and age not having pics handy of someone you dated for any amount of time seems odd. But I figured you knew by now that any time one asks for relationship advice it's standard to ask for (and expect) pics of the S.O. in order to give the most helpful advice possible.

Tup, thoughts?
Not sure what to think. Sure, if you're gonna rebuild then blow the mf'er up, there's nothing worse than mediocrity, teams can get stuck there for a very long time if they keep trying to improve incrementally. Who knows how accurate that is. Seems really strange though that Amare would be any part of a trade as part of a rebuilding effort. Although the luxury tax implications, if true (haven't been paying attention) mean anything is possible because Sarver is a bottom-line first guy, to the annoyance of many, even if it is understandable.

I agree, I have no idea why Amare's name was thrown in to the mix.

But whats kind of messed up is the Suns put themselves in the position to have to make this choice by trading for Shaq and Richardson. Neither of these guys made them title contendors IMO. But both blew up their payroll.

I mean look at their team salaries:
http://hoopshype.com/salaries/phoenix.htm

Barbosa is the fifth highest paid at 6mil a year, then it drops to a bunch of dudes making 1.5mil.

Richardson deal wasn't a cap killer given Diaw is making $9M/yr through '11-'12. Flipping Richardson to a contender looking for wing help isn't a bad idea. I just can't think of any team that fits that billing.

man dang loose cannons done huh so cal represent.

New Orleans needs wing help in the worst sort of way. Toronto too.

Not sure what either of these franchises could offer though.

Am I the only one who thinks thats an extremely strange "best case/worst case" scenario?
that seems really accurate and clear to me

antonio daniels and mo pete for jason richardson one time please

the annoying thing about the hornets is the type of player they need is the dime of dozen type guy, a decent shooting guard that can score

<-- Excited for LBJ vs NYK

tuq, interested in wagering on tonight's game?

i just had the worst frikkin monday ever in the history of the guard position in my fantasy league. Chris Paul groin injury, Jameer Nelson dislocated shoulder, Monta Ellis possible reinjury to previously injured ankle, Manu Ginobili broken hip or something. ****! 4 of 10 players are awesome, AND now injured.

As young kidcolin pointed out, Diaw & Bell for Richardson & Dudley was virtually a wash salary-wise. As was Marion (~$17 mil IIRC) & Banks ($3 mil) for Shaq ($20 mil). So any cap overages really have nothing to do with these two trades in particular.

Nor from a personnel standpoint were they bad trades. Marion wasn't gonna resign at the end of this year by anyone's expectation, Bell seems to be on a precipitous decline and probably won't start for anyone next year if he plays at all, and Diaw is a total box of chocolates out there. In return Shaq is all-star worthy - admittedly this outcome was probably a bit of luck, especially coupled with Marion's pedestrian season - and Richardson is in his prime and fits well with Nash. The real thing that sucks is being on the hook for Shaq and $20 mil next year. That alone may cause the Suns to dump salary and go into rebuilding mode.

What put themselves in this position more than anything is simply the window of opportunity closing. I personally think they could win a round or two in the playoffs. If they make a trade for the right contributor - perhaps a defensive-minded wing - then maybe they'll go even deeper. But I don't see why blowing the team up right now would accomplish anything worthwhile. All I can think of is it's better now when teams can use your parts than later on when they don't need them. Just not sure it's time yet.

It's August 8-15 in Fresno. Book your ticket now though, they fly little planes there that don't have many seats.

that's reassuring. but having to replace jameer nelson with nate robinson made me vomit in my mouth. that's an rotating seat now as far as i'm concerned. may have to just scrap assists and pick up another center, take the boards cat instead.

anybody thinking LeBron tops Kobe's 61 tonight? it'd be so jawesome if he did.
