Robby probably would have been better off selling his spot than racing it.
now you're finally saying something i can agree with. i'd go even further and just say **** the top 35/20/etc and have the fastest 43 qualify. i think it's the dumbest rule in nascar, but i also understand why they do it.

i also think because of the reason they do it, they'll literally never change it.

also, what just happened is UNREAL. never seen that ****. never.

noooooooooooooo. That's a bad idea for a number of reasons. You need your full-time fully funded teams racing every week and there's only about 35 of them. You'd lose sponsorship with only a top 20.

The "huge barrier" for entry into the sport is the big, big $$$ it takes to make a team competitive.

i can't imagine the track surface will be driveable, but then again i've never seen this happen before. it looks like the thing is out of fuel finally. the fire finally quit sparking back up.

Funny that some random is now hoping the track is ruined so he wins the 500.

If every team that "can't afford it," finds a new endeavor, what do we have left then, five or six owners?

The bitching and moaning about Robby Gordon seems pretty over the top in this thread. The guy raced his way into the 500. Any team that wants to keep a S&P team out of the show needs to step it up in qualifying.

I know how they're all hoping this works out...

the SAFER barrier is damaged too. i imagine this might take us all the way up until the time the rain is likely to come in. 2012 daytona 500 winner... dave blaney?? loooooooool. i kinda hope they get it back under way, but that would be the most unusual ending to a race in the history of auto racing.

He raced his way in, then race ffs. This isn't a Robby Gordon thing.

S&P has been and will always be awful.

man, you sound like a senator. you just want to spend spend spend but don't realize we can't afford it. how the hell is he gonna race when he'll at best break even if not lose money doing so? do you just not get it? and if you do get it... WHY ARE YOU STILL ARGUING? i don't understand, there's no solution here, and there's nothing you can do about it at all. continuing to bitch about it won't fix it. so why bitch about it???????

One other thought about the top 35 (yes, it sucks) rule and guaranteeing starters: Even more pathetic IMO are the teams that come to Daytona with ancient past champions like Terry Labonte or Bill Elliott to free ride their way into the 500 on the past champions provisional. I like both those drivers, but come on Terry Labonte getting into the race because he was last a champion nearly 15 years ago seems like a bigger joke than a guy actually racing his way into the 500.

The top 35 rule would not be quite so lame if it was really the top 35 in points, but the guaranteed spot can be bought and traded like a baseball card.

I feel like the most fair thing if the race finishes right now would be to make the finishing order the order when the caution started and not after the pit stop
